Travelling from Peru to Brazil
Hey everyone, gonna be backpacking in South America starting in August and plan to be gone for as long as possible. I was considering flying into either Lima Peru or Rio, but I think its gonna be Lima because it is so much closer to California where I will be flying out of. But that leaves the problem of getting from Peru to Brazil, as I think I am going to do a clockwise circle around the continent, skipping Colombia and Venesuela.
Any recommendations on which route or method of travel to take?
I have heard of people travelling to a town in Peru where you can get a ride on a river boat for 5 or so days and end up in northern Brazil, has anyone here done that? I also know that it is possible to travel to La Paz Bolivia and then get a bus from there to Rio, has anyone done this? Or know if it would be a tolerable route based on bus/road/infrastructure conditions? I know it would be much easier to fly from Peru to Rio but I want to travel overland as much as possible. Thanks for any info.
