Default Renting a car in Germany

I'd like to rent a car for at least a day during my stay in Germany. I'll probably do so while I'm in Dresden in order to see some areas I can't get to easily otherwise.

Is any car rental place going to give a car to a 23 year old girl who can't drive a manual? I haven't driven a clutch in years and I don't want to relearn while I'm there.

Minimum age to rent a car in Germany is 18 (read here)

Yes, you can rent an automatic. Follow the steps here and select Automatic when it prompts you.

You'll see a list of all available inventory for the criteria you entered.

Yes, it is possible. I was in Mannheim for 6 weeks and just used the tram until the weekends. When we would travel farther and outside of the surrounding area we would rent a car for one or two days and just split the cost with whoever I travelled with. Ended up being perfect plus they included a GPS so we never got lost!

Yes, no problem. Nobody will ask you about the manual thing. And you can request an automatic from them as well. Most car rentals have at least some automatics in Germany.

You might have to pay a higher premium for the insurance if you are under 25 though. But they will give it to you, dont worry.

Instead of breaking their cars, you can find several local German car hire firms that provide cars specifically for driving on the 'ring. Some companies will give you a high penalty for doing so, a company, especially your life will be banned. To assist them in maintaining their cars, and sometimes the use of GPS tracking and hiring local people on the spot parking lot at the Nurburgring.

Due to the fact that Germany is an industrial country, you will find it difficult to get fluent in English to communicate with them, so we strongly recommend that you try to find a good, reputable and affordable car rental in Germany before You start your journey. It is also desirable, you should try to use a map to determine where you plan to visit during the trip, and this can make some type of comparison, which will help you know, it is best to use your car rental in Your travel in Germany or it will be cheaper, if you use public transport vehicles.
