This is awesome... I am glad to see everyone contributing so freely. Anyone from Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, Scandinavia or anywhere else have anything to add. We are all eager to learn. Even if you are from a country that uses a language covered, I am sure there are regional dialect words that could be helpful. Especially some of the differences between the different Spanishes and Englishes.

Thank you all for sharing the knowledge of language. Help break down one of the major barriers in traveling and truly learning a countrys' culture is the language

very true, but i read more the shape of a word, other than the way you guys might read,

just wandering, does any one think that language is more of a barrier in the human mind? i mean when you think, you think in the language your most comfortable speaking in, so can you imagine how some one would think if they didn't have language?

Anyone know any Arabic? I just got back from Egypt and was only able to pick up one word (pronounced bak-sheesh) which means TIP! (lol) and 2 numbers! I loved it there and am really inspired to try and learn a little, but it is such a difficult, different language!!!!!!!

I wish you good luck if you want to learn arabic... This is soooo difficult. I met a arabic man who worked with my father and it was very hard and I didn't like the sound of this language. But Egypt...Yes... I really would like to know this place... Tell us how was there!!!???
