I personally can not remember how I found travelpunk but I am pretty sure it was a search engine while I was looking for information on backpacking brasil.

I'm pretty sure i got here thanks to another backpacking site. which i haven't been back to since getting here. ( it's like finding the emerald city). but then again, maybe it was good ol Google that paved the yellow brick road here. either way, yeah!

Dude, I actually typed that in just for the helluvit! Nada ...guess I gotta find a way to penetrate that market :greenguy: .
Well, since no one at this point has gotten here "from a friend," for crying out loud, email everyone in your address book about this site, or just add it to your email signature link !
Spread the word at your college, add a link to your Myspace homepages or other websites, spread the Tpunk name brand at your local pub. C'mon mang, get busy !

Well, it definitely wasn't from a friend or in a hostel...definitely online and I am guessing search engine.
Edited to add: I just hit 1000 guys! Yay for two stars. Maybe I should retire now while I'm still on top; go out with a bang.....Nah, you all would miss me too much, hehehehe.

Way, way back when I joined, there was an article in USA Today on various travel websites. I checked them all out and stayed with TP the longest...the others weren't as friendly and were prone to flame wars and general superior attitudes...

I honestly can not remember how I stumbled across t-punk....probably when I was doing research on a backpacking trip that I have yet to take.
But I am certainly glad I did find it!!! I've met a lot of awesome people on this site.

I was researching hostels for a trip to Europe and stumbled accross TravelPunk... Like others, I checked it out here as well as other travel forums, and found this to be the friendliest and most fun. There are others that *are* very informative, but you have to filter through so much useless information, personal bickering, or a complete lack of fun. TPunk's the whole package. Viva la TravelPunk!!1!!1

Had the proverbial ticket anywhere, so I Googled "Backpack Europe" and «poof»
found other sites, but none that were nearly as useful (or cool)
