Default honduras... stay in utila, or go to la ceiba?

well i did it, i finally booked my ticket to honduras... after booking a trip to liberia, and having it cancelled out of no where... i said screw it, i want to go dive... so i'm going to where diving is awesome, and cheap.

I got a good deal on a flight to San Pedro sula... then i'm going to take a local flight to Utila and stay there for a couple days and dive as much as possible. My questions is, should i go to la ceiba or just stay on utila for my trip? is there mush to see in la ceiba?

either way i'm just going to fly back to san pedro so i can maximize my time in either utila, or la ceiba. any advise would awesome, or if you've been to either place and have reccomondation that would rule...

cheers,
ed

i've never been to either place so I'm afraid I can't help you there! just letting you know I deleted the duplicate of this thread in the 'Where Do I Go?' forum, just in case you were wondering where it went!

I know this is an old thread...... But, I have a lot of knowledge on the area so I thought I would comment for future readers....
La Ceiba is an "ok" beach city for Honduras... Not that much to really do, you can wander and see everything you need to in 1 day... The beach isnt that clean, but the nightlife on the beach is fucking off the hook!!!
I also visited Tela which is a big pile of shit and a waste of time... And then up to Omoa which was my Fav honduras coastal city... Just chill and relaxed and worth the time to get to...
As for anyone thinking about flying from La Ceiba to San Pedro Sula to "save" time, the bus ride is less than 4 hrs and goes through the most beautiful countryside and worth taking!!!!

I was just in Honduras 4 weeks ago. There was nothing to do in La Ceiba and its really not that great of a vibe. My wife and I were there and we only stayed in La Ceiba, because we missed the last ferry to Roatan.

Do they have flights to Utila? I know there is a airport on Roatan, but dont think so on Utila.

We had a great time in Roatan. My wife got her basic open water and I dove a few days.

check out a video I did on Roatan diving and other things to do and see.
