That is a great deal. I would have jumped o that, but we've had our radar locked on the 1 terabyte at the Mac store.
Anyone looking to store their video and pics on something should definitely jump on that!

I also wanted to mention a couple of days ago I saw a 500gb on Amazon for $165 (forget the make). The price on 500gb drives is coming down FAST!
I have a LaCie at home (only a 180gb though) but its a nice hard drive. They make good products.

Yeah I was watching those LaCies as well too since I might have found a way to get myself a free iMac and was thinking about upgrading the drives. I think even just a year ago that the 1 terra externals (which were 4 250GB drives inside) were like 1500 bucks or so. Amazing on the price drops.

I do believe your wrong good buddie. The SAME type of HD I have (the premium edition) is NOT going for under 200.
Travelpunk, before you buy the lacie (unless your dead set on it) talk to me, I might make you a deal your cant resist.

That is the one thing I love about technology. If you just wait a little bit longer, you are guaranteed a significant price drop ! ie...plasma tv's, dvd players, pc's, gps, hardware, software, etc...

Yeah and the longer I wait for the price drop the more I want the newer model anyhow hehe. It's a violent cycle.

We have been dead set on the one tower terabyte. The main reason we want the Lacie is because it is recommended by Mac Users we know at the Mac stores we frequent (their site too).
We currently have two 300gb Maxtors and both have given us problems.
I know WD made a good product back in the day. Not sure how they stand up to the competition now. I know they are Mac compatible, but I haven't heard people recommending them.
Do these have warranty's? Receipts if there was a problem?

It would be the standard WD manufacturer warranty. Receipts are only good for 30 days anyhow..

Don't you need the receipts for purposes of the warranty?
Jake- Our Maxtors are maxed out containing the footage of our indie film that we still have yet to finish up. Our labor of love, if you will. The terabyte was going to be in addition to the ones we have. We would export the working timeline of the film to that one and keep the Maxtors for the actual clips when we need to use them again.
If I were you, I'd get one from Slacker at those bargain basement prices.
