Default go ahead-life is short

I know 1500 is not much a post milestone I mean its not like 1000 or 2000 but it kinda is to me and I was thinking that for my 1500th post I wanted to write it in this board.
My post? Basically this if you are or no someone who is someone who wants to travel to a far away land and if it is something you have dreamed of then do it because really life is too short.
I remember my experience in China. I hated it when I was there because the school I worked for was terrible and I was in a cold city in the north but I look back now and despite all of that the strongest memory I have is standing in Beijing airport thinking how cool I was for doing this. I think its because no matter what no one can take that away from me.
People, I am not advocating going some place like a war zone or being unprepared but seriously if theres somewhere you wanna go-go. Save up and do it.
This post is kinda rambling and I am sorry for that as it may be hard to follow but I can remember feeling so nervous when I hit the road solo for the first time, when I slept in sleeper trains and dorms alone for the first time and it wound up being a life altering experience.
Life is like a river ever moving forward-and if you don't then the waters much like life will be stagnant.
So save some cash pick a place tell the post man to redirect mail pack a bag and go.

Wow! 1,500 posts. I just recently did my 800th post.

I understand what you are saying. It is a dream come true. The difficulties we encounter are part of the experience. I did my first solo backpacking trip last summer in relatively safe Scandinavia and while there were some difficulty I learned to adjust and I also learned more about myself - especially in regards to myself being a hard of hearing man in a very unfriendly world. I was amazed how some people I encountered accepted me for who I am and I had to learn to shrug off the hostility of others.

Congratulations!

Great post! I agree whole-heartedly.

Definitely my first real "life lesson" was that you'll regret the things you DIDN'T do more than the things you did and messed up a bit, you know? It wasn't related to traveling, but I think the "just do it" philosophy applies to a LOT of our lives.

I wanted to ask a guy I was sort of talking with to homecoming. I had a lot of opportunities and I chickened out each time. Later, after homecoming (which he had gone to with another girl who asked him), I figured out that he WANTED me to ask and was planning on saying yes (apparantly my attempts at being discreet were not unnoticed). After I chickend out so many times, things just didn't work out. I can't help but wonder what WOULD have happened had I asked him? The ability to have that question answered was IN MY CONTROL.

With another guy, I decided to be more bold about it and take a leap and it was scary and in the end, it didn't work out. There were questions, but they were questions that laid (lied? layed? psh) in his control. I did what I could, and it hurt, but I came out the situation without regrets.

Different from traveling, but similar, I guess. JUST DO IT. The what-if?'s are more painful than anything else.
