I was able to study in Ireland for 5 months. Worth every second! From there I was able to travel to: N. Ireland, England, France, Italy, Croatia, Istanbul (not a country, yes, but that's the only piece of Turkey I've seen!) and Egypt. I was also in Germany for 2 1/2 weeks a few years ago.

Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras again, and now back living in Nicaragua with plans to go back to live in Guatemala again in Feb... 27 months since I first arrived in Central America...

10 months currently, spent almost entirely in Turkey with a month in the Czech Republic at the beginning. No idea when I'll go "home" (as of Friday, I became a legal resident of Turkey and don't really see Vermont as home anymore- it's been years since I've spent more than a month or so there anyway). Last year I spent about 9 months abroad- mainly South Korea, Turkey, and Palestine. The longest I've gone was a year, on two separate occasions (2004-5 in Sweden, 2008-9 in New Zealand).

I LOVE traveling in the traditional sense and I'm always jealous of people's trips, but if I have to choose I'd prefer to live and work somewhere overseas for an extended period of time.

Well, mine sucks, but I have been in the UK since 2008. I like living and working here and then trying to get as much travel time in...

I am going back home in 2012 though. Not sure how long for. But I am looking into going to Canada next for a year....

I think thats a great tradition you've started.

If everyone had a simple goal to celebrate New Years Eve in a different city every year, there would be a lot more people taking memorable trips

Well I don't know if I've been in a different city each new year. I just haven't been home to Canada for almost 5 years in a row.
