Default Hong Kong Airport to Kowloon?

Hi guys

Can anyone please tell me how to get from the airport to Kowloon? I hear there is a bus, but if it all goes wrong how much is a cab likely to be? I arrive at about 6pm.
Any help appreciated.

Hey Jen, there is loads of info on the various ways of getting from the airport to different parts of Hong Kong on this webpage:

http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/a...transport.html

The train certainly seems a good way to go. When I went to HK last year, we stayed in a hotel, so we just organised the hotel shuttle bus. Where are you staying? Perhaps they provide an organised bus?

If all else fails, I'd say do the train, the trains in Hong Kong are very reliable.

There is an airport express train that goes from the airport into Central and I believe it stops in Kowloon along the way (95% positive). That is what I would recommend taking. It is very clean and easy to use, runs until 11 or 12 at night and signs are all in English. You can catch it right from the main terminal, from memory I think its on the second floor but there are lots of signs. The Central station it stops at is a hub that you can also catch the subway from. Worse comes to worse, you can take the train to Central and then make your way to the Star Ferry which will also take you to Kowloon. There are a million ways to go. A taxi might cost you in the neighborhood of $25 to $40 USD real rough guess, so I would avoid that. Good luck!!

edited to add: here is a link to the airport express website and it does indeed stop in Kowloon so I am not going senile:

i recommend you do this:

buy an Octopus Card at information (the card costs 150 hkd, you get 50 back if you return it). You will need an octopus card to pay for the bus, mtr, and kcr. You can deposit money on the card at the plentiful Circle K's and even use it at convenience stores or fast food joints.

to get to Kowloon: if you're on a budget, take the Airbus City Flyer. You can't miss these doubledeckers when you exit the airport for public transport. You will need your octopus card to pay the fare. The airport express is much more expensive and a taxi will be around $250hkd I think..

Where exactly are you going to be staying on Kowloon?

Lines A, E, and N all go to Kowloon but some lines don't go to certain districts.

Line A21 will take you through the major districts on Kowloon - Mongkok, Tsim Sha Tsui and Hung Hom (the last possible stop). The fare is $33hkd. This is the line I used every time I had to arrive or depart from the airport.

Let me know if you have any questions at all about HK. I lived there for 5 months this spring sem. Loved it.

You can get taxi from the airport for reach at any location. You should hire a specific car from the taxi service company that provides you a car on rent that more beneficial for you. You don't have to wait for taxi.

That is what I would acclaim taking. It is actual apple-pie and simple to use, runs until 11 or 12 at night and signs are all in English. You can bolt it appropriate from the capital terminal, from anamnesis I anticipate its on the additional attic but there are lots of signs.

If you want to take a bus to get to Kowloon or Hong Kong Island.
Take the bus A11 that covers Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and North Point. HK$40.
A21 goes along Nathan Road (Mongkok, Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui). HK$33
