be careful (spent the night in the ER)
Guys I am in Belgrade right now, and last night me and my travel companion were going into a club. Club security in this part of the world is kinda whatever you know...more intense than the police. Sometimes shady. When I went out to see what was taking so long for him at coat check, there was blood all over the hood of a car and in the snow and all over his clothes. I didn't see exactly what happened, but he ended up getting jumped by three bouncers. They broke his nose and kicked him in the head. The police came and we went to the hospital from 3am to 11am. It was quite an experience. They wouldn't give him any papers unless he stayed the night for observation. There were no free beds so we had to sleep on the benches in the waiting room which had no heat. Thankfully he's fine, but it could have been soo much worse. Of course there is a police report and he contacted his embassy but I doubt much will happen.
The moral of the story is don't try to push it too far (which is prob what he was doing, you know some people think they're invincible) with the club security, esp here in E. Europe or you could get seriously fucked up.
On the upside, the whole visit was free. He even got a CAT scan, which my mom was trying to get in the states and it was supposed to cost her 3000 dollars I think. So on second thought maybe you do wanna mess with the bouncers.

Damn.... that's horrible! I'd say the CAT scan truly is the only upside to the story lol

I'm glad your boy is doing fine. Sounds like eastern Europe is a bit rougher then I thought it was.

You can get bashed by meat head bouncers anywhere in the world.
Glad to hear it worked out OK in the end and you weren't stuck with massive medical bills.

Eastern Europeans thugs are some of the scariest on the planet because, unlike the mafia, they have no rules. Fuggedaboutit...
Glad that you guys are alive and well now .

Being from that part of the world I can tell you it was probably more intentional then one might think.
Alot of the people in Serbia, Bosnia, and Croatia who take jobs as security bouncers etc. are war veterans of the civil wars. Many of them still have fresh memories and much hatred to the west, specially the US. It wouldnt take much to set someone off if it means getting to beat up an American.
Nema problema, its all good.
Stay safe

Scary! I will take note, as I am someone who FREQUENTLY gets kicked out of bars/clubs for drunken mouthing off to bouncers
