Default Thanksgiving

I just thought I would share something neat that happened over Thanksgiving.

I celebrated at my in-laws and they invited a couple of exchange students over too. They were both grad students and were interested in the tradition. Taylor (sah mihn) and Mac (mihn) were from two different countries, Taiwan and Vietnam.

We explained that basically it was an excuse for the family to all get together and celebrate. We explained many of our traditional foods like turkey, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, etc. We also explained that we are a very diverse country and that different families celebrated in different ways, but there was always a common theme; to celebrate what we are thankful for, to gorge on food until you pass out, and that where you passed out was usually in front of the TV watching football

Hopefully we did them right. They did eat two plates of food and were the last ones eating!!! We of course assured them that you were supposed to pig out. And really does the eating ever stop? Anyhow I just thought I would share a cool moment. And to all those non-Americans out there this is the one holiday that I recommend you experience if you decide to travel here.

So true, Dig! I love Thanksgiving weekend. It's so chill and there's so much good food to keep hit'n the spot everytime.

Pumpkin pie, movie theaters, Starbucks...all part of the tradition.

Thanks for sharing!
