I chose the Iriver H140 (40 gigs) over the Ipod after reading some reviews on each. its great it has a recorder on it which is great for college lectures. You can record from the back of the room and its still clear as day when you play it back. You can record in Wav or Mp3 and burn to a cd if you wish. It also comes with a awesome remote (great for the car) and has a radio on it.

Used to have a little generic MP3 player... it was the bomb... took one aaa battery, used MMC/SD memory (same as my digital camera) didn't require any drivers, and only cost me $20 bucks! Course, it got stolen on me....

Now I've got a blue 4GB iPod mini... it's pretty decent, and for roadtrips, I bought the FM transmitter...

I'm pretty happy with it...

Wow so many of you have Ipods. I really hope you dont have to change the batteries anytime soon.

I have a minidisc player. It rocks. I put in a lithium battery and it lasted me a year. I shit you not.

No having to charge it. Minidiscs are so awesome, I can make one for any mood I want, and with the hiMD ones coming out they are ony $10 for a 1 gig disc. Cant beat that!

As for anyone looking into an ipod mini, I suggest looking at a creative labs Zen first. Trust me.

I just got the iRiver H320 (20gig) it's got loads of class features. I'm trilled to bits with it.

It plays loads of formats (no need to reformat your music collection) doesn't need any software, charges off the USB lead and can connect to your cammera without the need for PC (as long as your cammera doesn't need software, which mine does ) this means you can connect it up to other players and copy music directly without the need for PC.

You can record onto it with ether the line in, built in or external microphone or off the built in radio.

Theres a text viewer and it also plays video (you need to convert the video into a usable format)

You can also store any kind of file you like on it and any pictures you have on it can be viewed on the colour screen.

Highly recommended if your in the market for a player.

Just got my new toy. It rocks the house. Sound is amazing with packaged earbuds. Easy to use and transfer music. 5 gigs holds so much music and only 3 hours charge for 12 hours playback. I love it

Still rockin the 3rd Gen 40gb ipod. My trusted companion for world travel has never let me down. Probably will need to exchange it for one with a fresh battery soon though. Extended warranties that cover the battery are ALWAYS a good idea....

I have had my 20gb I-Pod for 2 years now and the battery is still okay. I get about 6 or 7 hours and this is close to what it got when it was brand new. I also bought the AA battery pack for long plane rides an that works great too.

I love my I-Pod, wouldn't trade it for the world (except I only have about 1 gb left of free space.......)

I too have a 20 gig iPod and i love it. i don't leave home without it. really takes the pressure off when your gonna be spending extended periods of time with people that get on your nerves! also a great way to block out those things you don't wanna hear while trying 2 sleep [dorm room noises ]
