Default How long you been gone?!

What is the longest anyone has gone backpacking?! Starting from when you leave your own bed to the 1st night back in our own(old) bed. Extended periods working/living/traveling in a country are included as time away from home...

In my case, the longest I traveled for was 6 months. This trip was mostly in South East Asia and South Asia, but it started with a two-week stay at a friend's place in Australia. I'm from Canada btw.

5 months. Europe and South America. From Aussie.

But, I'm currently out of the country again, I've been in Canada for 3.5 months and won't return home for 2 - 3 years.

I myself am planing on 4 months. The more I look into it and plan the longer I want to go ha ha. Ill be going solo and it will be my 1st time backpacking, and my 1st experience overseas. Is 4-6 months too long for a 1st timer?

Nah mate, you'll be fine. My first time overseas was my 5 month solo backpacking trip to Europe and South America. If I can do it anyone can.

^Believe it or not, I found it much easier to not backpack for that amount of time. After 2 months of backpacking I always find that I want to settle down somewhere for a week or so.

A year and six months...and still going. Although I have been back to my home state many times in that time span - but typically crashing on friend's couches or my parent's floor for a week or so. The places I've visited include Costa Rica, Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, Kansas, Florida, NYC, Tennessee, Arkansas, Michigan, West Virginia and now Hawaii. Next to Australia or New Zealand (which ever holds the cheapest ticket when I am ready to leave this paradise). I plan to be back in my home state around Christmas 2011. And probably head back to Central America after that.

3 months, studying in London and traveling throughout Europe. From the U.S.

Up next: Minimum of 6 months in Australia. Ideally more like 10-12 months, and then a trip to New Zealand for a year as well.

The longest I've been gone traveling is about a month. I'd like to do a longer trip in the future to Eastern Europe. I also want to do a working holiday in either Australia or New Zealand.

Ive been traveling almost constantly for 9 years. About every 9 months to a year I go visit my mom In California, other than that I don't keep the same address for more than a month or 2. Ive probably held every job you could possibly have without a degree and even some that usually require one. I should probably write it all down one of these days.
