proof of onward travel to get into the UK?
I read that you need proof of a return or onward ticket to get into the UK. Will a Eurail pass be sufficient proof?

I dont know about onward travel, but they were sticklers for knowing where I was stayin the night....not really a good thing when I had absolutely no idea which hostel I was going to stay in because I was getting into town so early (7am) I just assumed I'd roll into the first hostel that looked good. Haha ended up giving them the number of a girl that I'd met in greece and was going to meet up with after having the lady yell at me for about 15 mins straight. Oh well.

It's a good idea to have an address (regardless of whether or not you plan on staying there) with you before going through customs in case that question comes up. Even checking your travel guide for a hostel's address while in line at immigration helps!
I've never been asked to show proof of onward travel before, and I've gone through customs/immigration in the UK many times at four different airports. Do not, however, take that as gospel that they won't ask for it...

I've been asked for it probably every other time I've gone through an international portal in the UK. I just keep a printout of my return e-ticket and they're cool after a glance. Although one time I did have an passport control warden who was REALLY anal retentive about the details.
As far as providing an address, just put any one hostel's address on there, or even easier, you can write something like "Paddington Hilton." In fact, that's what one warden told me to do. I started rattling off all the places I'm staying and he said, "Just fill in the Hilton." Haha.
