what to do on my way to porta viejo

Going to be in Porta Viejo for a yoga retreat from mon-mon. Booked my flight so i get in on friday afternoon. i figured i'd do a little exploring before all of the yogaing. was going to wing it, but perhaps i should make a couple of plans.

Is it too little time to visit the pacific coast and then book it to the caribbean side by monday. I'm not exactly the best at judging distances on maps. Should i just go to porta viejo and hang out there before yogaing, or make some stops on the way?

cahuita? favorite carribean side hostels?

and i took french in school so a little worried about language barrier.

okay. i've got monteverde straight from the airport, then maybe tortuego on sunday. then porto viejo monday a.m. to meet my group. ahh what a little research, talking to people and reading old threads can do for a person.
