Yeah, we got the lost footage back but had to tranfer it to the new Maxtor. The old one was repaired, but the tech said it's fragile so only use it for emergency purposes. Those were some scary times.

We used a regular consumer type, but learned to master the depth of focus and lighting with it. I didn't want to haul around a big ol' Canon XL1 all over Spain.

I go with the rule of thumb of having a tight and moving story, the audience will forgive the technical part. ie..."Blairwitch Project"

I hear ya. I have a Canon GL1 right now. It's a great camera and the quality is amazing but I might look to sell it soon enough. I have my eye and mind on going into HD. Have you seen the soon to be released Canon HV-20 ? That thing is sweet for its size and the feature set is actually right up there with my GL series but in a size I can bring out with me way more. I am digging it but I don't expect to see it until like June or so.

That is nice! Has 24p too! I went to Froogle and found the price. Roughly $1,100. Not bad http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=...Search+Froogle

How many gigs does it have on the hard drive?

It's not a hard drive based camera which is what helped it win my heart hehe. It records onto DV tapes.

I had to make another post because everytime I try to edit the last post it crashes mozilla here at work on me all of a sudden...

Anyhow, the 24p amazed me for the size and price of the camera. They have the HV-10 out already which the video I have seen shot on it looks amazing and the body is like a handicam setup. The only reason I don't jump on that now is cause I have a hard time stabilizing that type of form factor.

Not to mention the 20 will have mic capabilities which the HV-10 lacks.

Sudz, it looks great, but I think I'm digging those new hard drive based camcorders. I'll have to wait though to read some reviews on them first before I pull the trigger.

Slacker, what is the rock bottom price for 1 of those (include shipping)? We are getting the La Cie, but maybe I can add one of yours to the lineup.

Make me an offer I can't refuse...

Yeah, a lot of people prefer the HDD based one, but I just kind of always love having the tape, something about it I guess I think too because I will have the tape down the road just in case.

The hard drive, once downloaded onto your system, can be exported onto a tape, either in it's entirety or any specific part of the timeline.

But, I know what you mean .

Yeah, i know you can but sometimes if you don't have a DV camera already, the decks like the ones by Sony, will run me another $1100 or so in hardware. Ouch.

Something about DV just gives me the warm fuzzies hehe. I guess everyone has their thing.

True, true...It's hard to make a decsion these days with the constant format changes .

I'm interested in the new hard drive cameras, but want to wait a bit to hear the reviews.

So yeah I'm bored regardless... These hard drives are $100 or less now. Crazy that $250 was a good price last year.
