Hey Sherpette,
In San Jose I stayed at the Costa Rica Backpackers hostel. i would highly recommend it. They have a nice outdoor pool, Tv room and all the hostel essentials. The washroom are clean, big and well cared for. It's about $8 US a night and centrally located. I think they have a website costaricabackpackers.com or something like that. try a search engine. In San Jose there is also the Toruma youth hostel. But I heard it's not that good and they charge more than the other hostel. Along the Pacific I didn't really stay at hostels, just budget hotels. Don't forget to go to Montezuma on the Nicoya Peninsula. ANd when there stay at the Hotel Lys. It's located right on the beach a quick walk to the bars! :D You'll have a blast in CR. Remember to try the fruit milkshakes. Papaya Con Leche.

Yeah, so I spent time in Bagaces, Liberia, and PLayas Samara (and Carrillo). The latter were completely un-touristy!!! ANd I definitely had plenty of casados and batidos en leche con banano..... I miss the food, so much! Arroz con pollo, y gallo pinto tambien... la comida era muy delicioso... mmmmmmm! But anyways, my vote for best, least-touristy, most gorgeous beaches in CR goes to... Playa Carrillo!! There was NO ONE on this beach (you can walk there from Samara, but there are no places to stay. Literally, its just a beach, though a beautiful one at that), I had it to myself! Buh-bye tan lines But of course I'm always open to visiting some new beaches, strictly for research comparisons
And I'm spent. Adios niños.

Hola Sherpette! Bienvenido! Hace mucho tiempo! Que tal todos?
Okay, I better stop there or I might get bombarded by future posts en español total! And, after one year in Madrid, my spanish still sucks! I know, I know, I´ve blown it...but hey, I´ve had my mind on this movie thing, etc, etc, etc...
Anyhoo, the food sounds scrumptious and the people, from what I´ve heard, are warm and hospitable.
I´ve heard that, overall, CR is the BOMB and a great place for backpackers to visit. Thanks for the report and suggestions on great playas de CR.
Someday I too, will enjoy them beaches. Any photos to share with our viewers?
