The United States (obviously) (30/50 states)
Canada (Windsor and Toronto)

That is my extent of travel. But I am changing that ASAP.

My sad little list is as follows:

USA:
New Orleans
San Francisco
Miami
San Antonio
New York City

Other countries:
Spain
France

But I'm going to Italy for a month in September so hopefully that will lead to many other travel adventures. Can anyone tell me about Italy, other than the men like to pinch women's behinds? Where is Italy off the beaten path should I visit?

Waterboy, my cousin did that, after he graduated here, he went to germany and attended a year of high school there. He loved it. He lived on a family farm and said everyone was real cool. He picked up german real well too.

I had started the process of going to China for a summer semester in college, but then backed out cause i was a chicken ass. Argh, the choices we make.

Vanessa-princesa...cara mia,

Italy is wonderful and you will have a great time. I think Venice is the most beautiful city on the planet, but it is definitely NOT off the beaten path. I would wander down to Southern Italy for more off the beaten path travel. There are tons of little hilltop towns, Roman and Greek temples (check out Paestum...man, I just realized my Italy page on my web site is lame -- gotta post more pictures!), and a slower paced lifestyle. As I was telling Brent on the W. Europe thread, I rented a scooter and just buzzed up and down the coast.

Dmac just spent time hiking in the Cinque Terre villages, up north. I've heard that is really neat, too. Not exactly off the beaten path, but pretty darned close for a country as popular as Italy.

In bocca al lupo, vanessa!

well so far i've been to 4 states in oz (where im from)

i spent 4 months in england last year (and only got out of the midlands 3 times) pathetic i know but i was there for work.
and i spent one week in Sweden on the way back home (the last weekend which i had put aside for touristy stuff, i missed my bf so much that i didn't feel like going out i just wanted to go home)

but next year we are both of to do :
england
france
germany
italy
and wherever else in europe we feel like going for as long as the money holds out.
then its back to finding work somewhere (preferably in europe)

The money will likely hold out a little longer if you make it over to Eastern Europe. Prague is a really cool town, and I enjoyed Budapest, as well. Poland has a lot of really neat stuff, too, and Bulgaria (I know, a bit further away) was awesome.

Not to trash Western Europe by any means. Just that it tends to be a bit more expensive. Speaking of which, as long as you're in England, I recommend checking out Scotland (the West Isles/Hebrides were my favorites) and Wales (nice castles!).

Have fun, zylah!

My short list is:

-Mexico (x4) 5th one coming up in Feb.
-Thailand
-Greece, 2nd trip coming up in Sept.
-Germany, (I am counting this one because after your plane blows an engine and has to make an emergency landing in Germany I think I get credit for this one. :P )

Any many states here in the US but I'm not gonna start counting those until I'm a retired old fart with a motorhome.

some changes to my old list:

Instead of Russia for 4 1/2 months, now just over 6

Finland for one more night, now 7 days.

and some new additions:

3 hours (such a cheater !):
Slovakia
Holland

2 days:
Estonia,
Latvia

4 days:
Czech Republic
Austria
Hungary

7 days:
Poland
Lithuania

and with that- I will be done, unless I win the lotto . the fact that I am able to count how many days shows how little I saw in each. But I am lucky for the chance.

noodles...geez who did you fly with? What did the airline do after you landed?

Columbia, I don't know if the 30ft of the US you were in would count.

Yes, I definately think it is time for you to get out and do some sightseeing.
