It sure would feel good to kick the shit out of one of those lowlifes if for no other reason than it would help end pickpocketing. The practice thrives on a justice system that doesn't match a risk with the potential reward. If half the people who tried this lost teeth, there probably would be less of it.

ive only ever had one confrontation at it was in london funnily enough. some young youf came up to me and said "what have you get for me" i told him to fuck off. so he pulled out a letter opener (thinking it was a knife) and i played dumb then told him even louder to GET A JOB. hahahah the look on his face was priceless !!

im not a violent person but i do beleive in defending myself however is deemed necesarry if someone is violating my personal space (my pockets bag room etc) ive been chased around london a few times also, by crackheads in the north london areas, and my tips are

keep your wits about you at ALL TIMES. just becuase a country isnt as dodgy as another does not mean the bad people will not pick you out. crime is an occurance all around the world, be educated.

if someone approaches you and you dont feel right about it, head into a shop or cafe if possibe, or flag down a taxi. if a person starts to get violent (verbal or physical) shout out police, theif and then hit em in the fanny!

with regards to self defence just never make yourself look scared. words are the best weapon - if someone asks for you wallet be assertive and make yourself sound well hard.
