yes, a few of us here on the boards have seen the movie.
I've also read the book. it's good.
Personally, I really really like the movie. it's dreamy, surrealistic and at the same time impressionistic.
the book has a much more radical ending; however, john doyle's script on the screen isn't too bad at all.
there's a thread on this from a few years back - check it out!

I've not read the book, but have seen the film a couple of times. I mostly like the film because of the beautiful scenery, and the even more beautiful men.

I read the book then saw the movie in one of those surprising ways, like, "OMG, a movie is being made out of a book *I* read!!!" And I like Danny Boyle, but not so much Leonardo DiCaprio. And this was all before I knew that I would love traveling.
Thumbs up to the book. The movie was a little lukewarm on me. Though I loved some of the more gimmicky aspects of it like the videogame chase.

I love the book and the movie. The book is always better than the movie though - although I can't recall any snake blood shots in the book. If anyone is interested in that type of communial living there's a ton of communities (ie hippie communes) that are very similiar to it. Although not all are in the middle of the ocean with a big green farm nearby.

Watched it in Vietnam to kick off my month-long backpacking trip, because as my travelmates said, "if you're backpacking South-East Asia you NEED to see this!"
From all that's been said, I guess I need to read the book though!

I love the movie. The Island which was shown was really awesome. It was a kind of movie for those who love to explore and want to go undiscovered places. One more movie which was somewhat similar "Into the wild" and i enjoyed it too. If anyone seen this so please share your opinion.
