I've got the whole month to explore, the only landmarks are a flight into Paris, a flight from Paris to Helsinki four days later, and a flight out of London at the end of the month. I'm traveling solo, which I'm pumped about since everyone I've ever traveled with has been obsessive about planning and I like at least the illusion of freedom
The plan, however vague, is:
4 days in Paris
Helsinki
Tampere
Stockholm
Oslo
Copenhagen
Amsterdam
Edinburgh
London
Anyone been these places? Anything to go our of my way to see? I love military history, architecture, medieval history, and weird food. Haggis and blood pudding and blackhouses and castles were some of the most thrilling events when I went to Scotland a couple years ago.
I'm going to be traveling super light - just a couple changes of clothes, my phone is email+web+camera, and I don't mind not having a nice camera because I'm a storyboard artist and will be bringing a badass sketchbook to fill.
Does anyone have thoughts on Norway? Oslo seems to have the biggest greatest Viking museum, but hostels there are twice as much as anyplace else and the Internet says a sandwich from a gas station can be the equivalent of $11? That's like... Disneyland prices! Anyone know if there are other Viking museums in the other Nordic countries?
Anybody up around there (or in Edinburgh or London) want to meet up and show me around? I promise I'm polite.
