Awww, and we are glad you didn't stay a lurker! Hee hee. This was really the first message board I ever joined and I lurked for about a year before signing up. Even then I was pretty shy!!!

But by introducing yourself you can get that personal attention and ask all those questions you're DYING to ask!

I found this site, read some hilarious threads, signed up and introduced myself all in the same day.
This is the first board I joined as well.
One time I actually posted on another board. When TP was down for upgrades...it was just the one time, I needed a fix. But I was thinking about TP the whole time! I swear!

This board get's a lot of lurkers. That's right, I'm talking to you.

If you are planning a trip abroad and want to have the time of your life, you need to work on your interaction skills.

In my experience, a trip goes from ordinary to extraordinary because of the people that you meet on your travels.

However, in order to meet these people, you must interact with them. That means that sometimes, it's up to you to break the ice. You must be the one to say hello first, to the person sitting next to you at the bar/pub, park, party, museum... whatever.

You've been lurking here for a while counting down the days before you embark on that backpacking trip of a lifetime. Reading these posts, learning, preparing, laughing, dreaming...

Consider this practice. Register for a free account here, introduce yourself, post your questions/answers/tips, and get your spiff on!

You won't believe how easy it is to create solid friendships on here or throughout your travels, by taking the first step and interacting with this family style community. Check out our Past Meet-ups and see the proof!.

The only thing that you might be sorry about, is that you didn't start earlier.

Take action! Do it now.

Hello, I'm Lori and Im American and heading to Scotland at the end of the month to backpack all over Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland..Should be a fun trip as its my first time over seas...I will be there for aproximatly 2 months doing this.. Or until I start to freeze..Born and raised in Southern California so the cold will seem quite harsh to me. Any advice for me?

Hey Guys! I'm new to the site and I love this freakin' site! I lurked for five hours reading about backpacks, packing, ect. I fell in love instantly. This site has helped me so much with my worries on traveling. (Oh yes, I worry a lot!) Anyway in Sept. I will be studying in Sweden for a year and plan to do some traveling all over Europe. I plan to spend the time before I leave reading everything I can about traveling in Europe... oh and I guess working... gotta earn the moolah! So I'm just saying HI!

I guess the best advize any of us can say is. . . ENJOY! Actually I should be by the same area after Spain or so either way the weather is kinda way diff but for me is not that bad a good hoodie or jacket shall do for the months to come. I heart the gloomy misty weather! :greenguy: My fave although I'm a urban beach person.
