Anyone been up north?
I'm thinking about heading up north, maybe Whitehorse, for the summer. Hoping to find a job for 6 weeks or so (I have about 8 weeks of summer vacation). I'm a Canadian so visas aren't a problem. I was thinking Whitehorse because it sounds like a reasonably comfortable city, active arts scene, I'm guessing spectacular hiking and camping nearby, and from what I understand it's not too expensive compared with other places in the north.
Anyone done something like this? Know what kind of jobs are available, how to get them? Or what about smaller places like Dawson City -- is it as kitschy as it seems?
Thanks,
Dave

Actually I have always felt guilty for travelling elsewhere in the world, but having not seen much of Canada... except for the big cities of course.
I think a north trip would be cool... if you were going to Yukon, you might as well hit up places in NWT and Nunavut... although I must admit I know nothing about where to go and stuff like that...

Sometimes I feel the same way about the United States. I've barely seen any of the midwest, my only texas experience is one weekend in Dallas, etc.
