what the hell are they doing to them?
I don't think they're doing anything nonsensical. C'mon ipod shoud know better, ppl who buy an mp3 player buy it for at least one of the following reasons:
1.to take it with them to the gym/work outs
2.hook it up to their car
These will expose the mp3 player to moisture(u sweat right ) and vibration.
so if it breaks down bcuz of any of those reasons -which in case of my friends 3 out of 5 did,not sure about the other 2- then I say nay to that brand

i think they are a bit gimmicky
I agree because u can buy other hard-drive players which are less cool but are just as functional if not better and cheaper.
Just between us Tpunkers tho, I can't help but laugh my ass off (in my head of course ) when i see someone in the gym with an ipod attached to their waist/arm; it looks like a piece of brick dangling off of their body

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I LOVE MY IPOD. Also, they do come with a warranty. I've had no problems with mine at all though and I take it the gym and throw it in my backpack when I go to school. Maybe it's all about getting the right case for it.

well, I just joined the ipod gang today. A bit of an impulse buy but I'm heading out on Sunday and will be traveling for the next six months...so I figured I'll be using it. 40 gigs and I'm outta space already, especially since I got it from a friend and 20 gigs of her music was on it. :P

All I can say is....yup. I use mine nearly every day at the gym and have taken it all around the world, throwing it in in my backpack. It has never let me down, battery life is still acceptable and the ease of use is priceless and this is nearly 3 years on. It is a quality product. I agree, though, that keeping it in a good case probably makes a difference. Mine came with a little holster with a belt clip and I have never used anything else. Its rugged and keeps moisture away from it. I will stick with Apple - I have looked at a lot of others and have used other brands and they are not as good IMHO, but to each their own.

I have a 30Gb Video Ipod... I love it. It's great for everything. I just wish I did more stuff where I could use it.

Mine has been through quite a bit... rained on, sweated on, sat on, dropped, smacked across the room, and it is still great. I abuse the heck out of everything. So if it works for me, its gotta be good.
