Traveling to Europe in 2010
I'm heading to London to meet up with some friends I made in Australia. But after that I'll be traveling in Europe alone.
I'm not worried about anything, besides having enough money to do what I want.
For people who have traveled before are most people in hostels friendly and worth trying to talk to? For maybe doing group travels/getting food? I'm fine with going alone, but should I try to meet up with people to save some money?

Other travelers staying at hostels are generally extremely friendly.
If you're traveling alone, it is best to pick hostels which have their own bar or at least a decent common room. It makes it a lot easier to meet new people.
You probably won't save money by meeting new people because you'll end up partying a lot harder. Which is a good thing.

I agree, people are generally friendly in hostels. And when you are lonely, choose hostels that look like they have a good meeting point (bar or whatever). When you get tired of people, choose ones that look to be quieter. After a while traveling, you can normally tell the type of hostel you want or don't want just by looking at the hostel search sites.

I agree about the hostel having attached bars you will meet a lot of people that way, though I met so many people just because you share a room with them. Travelers in hostels are generally very easy to talk to and strike new friendships for the shear fact you automatically have stuff in common and after you've been traveling for a little bit you will have a TON to talk about. Have a great trip and safe travels!

I especially enjoy staying in hostels because it puts you in contact with like-minded, generally fun people.

Well I'm looking forward to what ever happens then. I'm pretty open and will just enjoy being out in the world playing around.

So I just found out that my friends that were ment to be in Europe are back in Australia. They had some problems with their visa's and won't be back till Febuary.
Kind of sucks for me because now I have no place to stay in London once I get there. I do have my Eurail pass, so I guess I could get started on traveling about.
Damn.

I know you probably started your trip already but from my 3 1/2 month lone backpacking trip I learned that hostels are easy to make friends and find people to go to sights with and also the best thing I got was finding out about other destinations that you don't know about but from talking to people that just came from the area you have current information on the area.
P.S.
If you make it to Berlin, stop off at Goldmans bar in the circus hostel where you can drink "das boot" from beerfest and they have a giant picture of David Hasselhoff in a gold frame with candles under the frame that say the words" THE HOFF"

Do not be afraid of staying in hotels along. Usually there are a lot of fun people who can make a company with you. Traveling alone is really interesting, so I think you have great trip.
