I was with my friend today and she randomly showed me her passport. I was looking through it and I noticed she had a visa for the Czech Republic. Then I found out that I'm supposed to apply for one before I go. I read my Let's Go book and it said under Visa and Entry Info:
"Visas are available at your embassy or consulate, but not at the border. Processing takes up to 7 - 10 days etc..."
And then under Entrance Requirements it said:
"Visa: Not requred for stays under 90 days for citizens of Australia, Canada etc."
I'm confused. So am I required to have a Visa when I go the the Czech Republic? If so, how much does that cost and where would I get one?

Where are you from? U.S. citizens do not need a visa to enter the Czech Republic. Is your friend's visa from a long time ago, or was it a work visa?

Hi ! Here's the link to the Czech Embassy in Canada. They say Canadians don't need a visa for up to 90 days.
It must have been changed so lately, because in 2001, as a reply to the canadian policy towards the Czech, they started requesting visas for canadian tourists. If you want to make sure, call the embassy in Ottawa. The phone number is on the link I provided you.

I had the same worry at one point. You previously did need a visa, I believe, but Canadian tourists under 90 days definitely do not. I visited the Czech Republic for a few days last summer, and it was no different than visiting any EU countries in terms of leaving/entering.
