For travel survival just knowing one is so helpful. Sometimes when I don't know a word in French I ask my friends what it is in Spanish and often times it is similar enough it will jog my memory for the French word.

Yes goodluck Adam i have been taking in school for about a month now and am progressing pretty well but it requiers a ton of study especially the writing which is all we seem to do. How do you like the barrons program? I am looking to get something to progress my speaking since all i do in school is write.

I feel as though its really good....I have started doing one lesson every 2 days and am progressing quite nicely....I feel very confident about my pernounciation and proper usage of the words....The Barrons program was developed by the U.S. Department of State for their employees on diplomatic excursions to Japan. Therefore it is very helpful and useful but it is completely conversationally based. It is a pretty expensive program so I would not buy it unless you plan to use it thoroughly......

So what about Greece? What language do they speak there and where are the survival words for them?

Well, they speak Greek, but nearly everyone we met spoke fluent English so if you can read this, you'll survive there! We found that seeing the words written down didn't help with pronounciation, so we just asked everyone we met, "How do you say ..." and then repeated it until they smiled and told us "Close enough!"
