Exclamation Mother Daughter Trip

So my month-long trip to Europe was cancelled because, well, sometimes you just can't count on people. I obviously still want to travel somewhere. I asked my mother, as a joke since we never actually go through with our travel plans, to go to Peru together and see the Machu Picchu. She said that she'll definitely go for sure this time if I set everything up. Now I have all these plans to make and have no idea where to start.

The plane ticket is expensive, period. I can find no way around it. I was hoping then that I could get some pointers on websites I could go to to get good deals on tours and/or travel packages. I wouldn't mind "roughing it" a bit if I were going with a friend, but since I'm going with my mother...

Anyways, if anybody has some tips on websites/tour packages, or just provide an estimate of what's the cheapest thing I could find, so that I don't keep looking for a price that doesn't exist, I would really appreciate that.

Thanks!

What a great choice! Are you planning on hiking the Inca Trail or just taking the train to see Machu Picchu?

The Nazca lines are a great must-see, and those can be arranged too, you view them from a plane. There are plenty of tours you can book. From what I hear, only spend a night or two in Lima once you fly in, I hear there isn't much to do. If you plan to hike the trail, get to the area a few days early (plenty of stuff to do -explore Sacred Valley, etc) so you can get used to the altitude because altitude sickness is a killer!!

Give us an idea of the stuff you'd like to do! A few tpunks on here have been to Peru (myself excluded... I had the plane ticket and all, and ended up not going - I still kick myself daily).
