St Pattys Day in Dublin
I'm going to be in Dublin for St Patty's Day!!! Anyone know of any special events in the city I shouldn't miss? Or the best pubs I should go to celebrate? I'm pretty excited about it, it seems like a good place to me to spend the day..

Have a look over the official website Official St. Patrick's Festival 2009, Thursday 12th - Tuesday 17th March Dublin, Ireland It's a week long event in Dublin and you'll even find allot of mini multicultural festivals going on around the place too. Ever since we had that influx of Brazilians during the boom our festivals have improved no end.

It could be difficult finding a place at this stage. If you can't get a hostel try travel lodges. There's a bewleys hotel out by the airport it's fairly pricey at €80 but that's for the room not per person. At least it was last time I was there.
They have a free shuttle service to the airport and the airport has a regular bus service so it's not to bad for getting there.

I noticed hostel prices were insanely inflated during St Patty's day too. If you don't mind camping, maybe check out Carmac Valley Caravan and Camping Park. Its pretty reasonable and there might still be space open:

well, if you don't mind being off the beaten path. when i was there for st. pat's day a few years back, i just rented a car (30 euro a day) and went to a smaller town in ireland to celebrate the festivities (Killarney). it's near killarney national park, so you can imagine the views. i stayed in a little bed and breakfast and walked around town. very cool and way less crowded.
