Oh!! how could i have forgotten about empanadas!!!!
They come in meat, spicy meat, jam and cheese, roquefort, vegeteables, chicken, tuna, corn, cheese and onions, and for desert: dulce de membrillo, de batata and of course... dulce de leche!

Beer. While the pacific northwest might be the overall champ of microbrew in the public's eyes, Northern California's truly on top of the craft brew game. You can't spit in San Francisco without hitting a brewery, and while quantity usually doesn't mean much, I can say with confidence that the quality is all there.

mmmmmmm North Coast brewery... btw ever had a burger at a place called Polkas? I hope I spelled that right.
In Melton Mowbray UK, its Pork Pies we are known for. In Tescos all over the UK you can see "Melton Mowbray Pork Pies" but they are fake the real ones are Dickenson and Morris pork pies.
In Toronto-well Canada I say Pizza Pizza rules! Also I love the hot dogs.
In Brussels of course its mussels and waffels but if you are in the mood for something cheap go to Hector Chicken its tasty man.
I love Bratwurst in Germany and the beer.
Oh man I'm hungry...

Okay cheap eats in TO. (not Tdot! I'm protesting!)
If you're ever in TO and need to eat cheap there is Kensington Marlet at Dundas and Spadina. You can cheese, fruits, veggies and breads and pastries for really good prices - and some places sell organic for super cheap!
On the run? Hit Augusta. You can get papusas - bean and cheese for a buck, buck fitty each and there are filling at the El Salvadorian Market (not sure the name, but it says El Salvador in the window. Fried plantain with sour cream for a buck. Next door, you can get empanadas for two bucks, two fitty.
Falafels abound in TO. Falafel Queen at Queen and Bathurst and Sarahs at Bloor in between spadina and bathurst are the best 3.20 each. Beside Future Bakery.
Oh yeah, in the market, you can get a patty and cocobread for 1.50
Breakfast at the green Room in the alley behind Future Bakery 3.20 - eggs bacon, fries, salad and toast.
Oh and Sarahs has a great lentil soup for 2 bucks.
Spanakopita at Kensington Bakery for 1.25 I think. They're yummy. Oh and Gazelle on Bloor just east of Bathurst beside the Bloor Cinema has a whole lot of great food for cheap. The best though are lunch specials. Buy your dinner at lunch for 5 bucks and heat it up later. Thai lunches are good for that. Sushi too. At sushi time you get this huge meal for under ten bucks that lasts me two meals. Mind you this is all the Annex where I live. But, you can find super cheap deals all over town.

I've made it several times, Anthon. Once for an employee meal, I did roast beef top rounds, green beans, gravy, and Yorkshire pudding. Of the 30 or 40 there, only maybe 5 had ever heard of it...
Personally, any pastry cooked in beef or pork fat is OKAY! in my book.

all the exchange students at our school got addicted to aussie meat pies... mmm... pies.... i think pies and beer is the general australian specialty meal. then theres lamingtons.... but as for regional specialties i dont think theres anything unique to canberra. there's a type of moth that the aboriginal people used to eat... but it isn't really what you'd call a popular local delicacy

God, I got so addicted to pies in Australia. I can take or leave y'allz beer, but it sure hit the spot in that constant heat and, of course, with the pies.
Can't say I dug the Pavlovas all that much, except when I had a really good one. A good Pav is relly good. A bad one is awwwwwful.

In Italy pizzerias potato pizza is awesome. Th ose balls of rice and cheese are pretty good too. I want to try the olive oil native to part of Italy I visit. Lucca means high quality olive oil in the dictionary.

newfoundland has a lot of unique dishes....
fish and brewis (salt cod with hard bread)
caribou (sausages, burgers, steak)
moose (sausages, burgers)
seal (flipper pie)
toutons (fried dough, great for breakfast or a boil up)
partridge berries (jam, cheesecake)
bakeapples (bake apple cheesecake is awesome)
purity products (they make a lot of sweets, jam jams, lemon biscuits, syrup)
lots of wild game dishes here as well (rabbit stew, turr, etc)...and awesome local beer...oh, and I can't forget newfie screech rum.
I'm more likely to cook up some black bean chicken or pad thai than any of that though lol.
