Travel Budget, Money Matters, Financial TalkMom, can I borrow ten grand?! Gimme yo mastercard! How the heck can I pay for my trip?! Ideas for making money. How much dough do I need?
If you put $40 in coins through a coinstar machine, you get a $10 bonus and no fee when you convert it into a gift card. So I just got 4 rolls of quarters from the bank threw them into the machine at my grocery store, and turned it into an Amazon credit. I buy a bunch of CDs and books for gifts this time of year anyway so it's like free money

Good idea, especially if you plan on a purchase to one of those outlets already. 20-25% off, for free.

That's an awesome idea. I always go the gift card route b/c they don't take a percentage of your money, but didn't realize they give you an extra $10 for the holidays.

Speaking of Coinstar, a few months ago, I took a bunch of coins that I had accumulated for a few years and dumped them into my local coinstar.
When it was all said and done, I walked away with $335 after their fees! (I must have missed the $10 bonus)
Just take an old shoebox, or in my case an old camera bag, and just empty your change in their each day. Don't give it a second thought. Just let it growwww
It's a lean mean green machine usually found in grocery stores where you dump your buckets of coins and it will automatically sort them out and count them out.
At the end of the process, it will spit out a receipt with the final dollar amount of all the coins you dumped in and you take it to the cashier for them to give you cash.
Watch through this video (fast forward to the middle and end to get the idea, if you want)-
COOL I want one! we have to take our coins to the bank.
I did once sell all my coins to my mum so she could use them for parking. I think I ripped her off
Tony is right though, chuck all your coins in some kind of container at the end of each day and it adds up pretty quick, i did this for a couple of years and then banked it the day after we got robbed (the bastards didnt find my stash!) and had around $450 in it - thats a pretty sizeable amount towards a trip yet you dont miss the coins at the end of each day!

Cool yes, but what we forget is that they take nearly 10% for themselves. That is however what makes the gift cards so apealling. Don't get me wrong though, I have definatly used their services on multiple occasions.

"Do we really want to travel in hermetically sealed popemobiles through the rural provinces of France, Mexico and the Far East, eating only in Hard Rock Cafes and McDonalds? Or do we want to eat without fear, tearing into the local stew, the humble taqueria's mystery meat, the sincerely offered gift of a lightly grilled fish head? I know what I want. I want it all. I want to try everything once."
