BIG TIME!!

Ireland seems to be the bridge between Europe and the US, as soon as America hits trouble we don't seem to be far behind. Although our government is completely inept. The economic boom we had has been completely wasted.

i'd say at least 1000 points has been knocked off the value of irish shares over the past year.every time i turn on the news I hear the Irish stock market is down, by 20 or 30 points! Unemployment is at the highest it's been for 10 years.

It's a world wide recession I think.

^actually right now that is the only thing going for the economy. We are comparatively cheap for foreign investment. It just stinks for travelers

The US is very, very cheap. The new thing for the rich folk in Ireland is to go on a shopping trip to new York. Everything is so much cheaper there the flights are payed for by the savings they make.

The US is as cheap as China now for buying stuff, except the big difference is you get brands from the US whereas China just sells shite.

Bad for European business though. We're to expensive.

It's funny, I met a guy from the US in Madrid and he couln't believe I saved up in a foreing currency (either dollars or Euros). He had never even pondered the idea. I guess he must be giving it a thought right about now...
