The bite of bed bugs are always looking like this...

If your mark is looking like it..then you should follow some home remedies..

*Most important wash your clothes and bed sheets with hot water.
*Spray lavender, thyme, tea tree, or eucalyptus on bed linens..
*Spread some mint leaves on the effected area..as well as whole house..
*Use the combination of rapeseed oil and pyrethrins..It will directly attack on the bed bugs nervous system..

I fear bedbugs more than anything else (getting mugged, bad guys).

I'm a victim of bed bugs recently, I wish I've never had this problem. Makes me paranoid to travel now!

I don't have much money to stay in nice hotels or private rooms. That's what backpacking is all about right, but what about the bedg bugs?!!!

Should I stop traveling....

No, you should not stop yourself from travelling just because you are afraid of bed bugs?! C'mon there's a great place out there waiting for you to explore. If possible do a research first regarding the place you will going to and also the cheap hotels.
