My boyfriend got approached in a sandwhich shop last week but this guy claiming to be looking for new employee.
Main things he mentioned were:
"Be your own boss"
"Make 20k to 100k the 1st year"
So my boyfriend went to this seminar they had were they gave him the information. He pays $300 bucks and they let him purchase discounted products but he has to recruit x amount of new people.
Doesn't sound legit to me but he's all excited (not so much that I found out it's similar to Amway). Wondering if you guys had any info that would help me to get his mind off of it.

I have one word for you, babe: AMWAY. (Quixstar or however it's spelled is part of the Amway Umbrella.)
If your boyfriend goes to another meeting, do him a favor and tell him this:
Don't drink the kool-aid!!!

Amway is nothing but a bunch of bible-thumping nutjobs that use a legal Ponzi pyramid scheme to maintain their ranks.
Furthermore, the tales of mucho dinero, etc. are only for the top folks. It rapidly becomes a FT job, with the conventions, and all the tapes/cds you buy for motivational sales, etc etc.
Quixtar is Amway's internet-based wing.
Have fun vacationing on Peter Island :D

FTR, however, the Amway folks are well-intentioned if not horribly misguided. They have done a lot of good for Grand Rapids, MI, as well as the state of Michigan, but I would NEVER EVER consider joining their ranks. I have better things to waste my money on. Like hookers and blow.

When did they spike their kool-aid?
I think my mom did it for awhile before i was born...
It might explain my lack of right brain functions

LOL!!! kool-aid.........ahhh too funny
Yeah I went to one of these things as well way back when a bunch of my friends were wanting to get into it, I reccommend stay away, I think the only ones making the bucks are the guys collecting 300 buckeroos on book and material and I really hate people trying to chirp it up by calling it a business and be your own boss blah blah blah, you can make up to 100k a year but in reality you might make 10 bucks! Fuck it get a real job
