Hi everyone,
I'm new to the boards... I'm planning my first trip in summer of '05 all round Western Europe.
Of course I want to go for all the history and art and culture and all that...
But one place I wanna hit is IBIZA , the legenary mecca of electronic music... being such a deephouse, acid jazz, chillout and general electronic music fan.
Can anyone who has been to IBIZA and can tell me something their experiences there, or about how much money I can expect to spend there on partying/food/shelter, or places there to definitely hit...
... or just random happy thoughts about IBIZA in general?
Thank you in advance for your input

Trips (only counting recreational travel):

SECOND TRIP (2007): First Solo Trip! Greece, Turkey, Syria, Spain
2008: China (Beijing, Shanghai, Yangshuo) ...right before the Olympics!
2009: Japan & HK, Southern Spain
[size=1]2010: All over Lebanon, Ibiza (Spain), Oktoberfest (Germany), Thailand.
2011: India (Goa), Jordan, Jerusalem, San Sebastian (Spain), Amsterdam (again), London, Driving from Vancouver to L.A. (stopping in Portland, Seattle, San Fran and all the little stops), Montpellier (France), Geneva and Lausanne (Switzerland)

WELCOME TO THE BOARDS... I'll let CD give you a proper welcome (he's the best at it)
As for Ibiza... to get there and stay there isn't too bad at all... getting into Clubs will be your major expenditure... dont' be surprised if your paying 40 Euros to get into some clubs... I've never been and the money is the major reason I haven't gone yet. But it is for sure on my list of things to do
Let us know when you get back what you think of it.

i lived there 2 summers ago it is the most amaxing experience i have had to date, hell im even thinking about emigrating there! I lived in san antonio bay and i can honestly say ive never seen a sunset like it (its true what they say) You can rent private villas for around 1200-1600 euros a month other than that you can stay in a few hostels for around 15 euros per night but be warned these are very basic! U never seem to spend much time in them anyway so its not a real big problem
I had friends working there so i used to get in to most clubs for free but the usual cover price is bout 35-40 euros but the main bars in the west end dont cost anything to get in and you can usually get 2 4 1 drinks, it is much better to drink before you go out and in the west end before you go to clubs like manumission because hell the drinks are expensive (i payed 10 euros for a jd and coke once!) even the water is really expensive about 2 euro for a little bottle that will usually cost 40 cents in the shop and those bouncers are tough you cant hide water anywhere believe me i tried! Oh and to make it worse there is no drinking water in the bathroom (salt water!!!!) The best times i ever had was at a garlands party on bora bora beach man the feeling you get when yr out of yr head listening to the latest tunes and you can see the planes take off........oh god im talking myself in to going to live there again next summer

hahaha... thanks MolsonGirl, your welcome is good enough for me
I'll be sure to let you guys know what I think of IBIZA...but you'll have to wait a year till I go =)
Beergal, u say u lived there? That's amazing... what did you do when you went there... did you work at the same time, or did you just bring a huge wad of cash? Cuz that'd be wicked, if I can work and party...
and btw, from what you described, it sounds like a paradise... especially that garland party
Has anyone ever been to a place in IBIZA called Cafe Del Mar? Every single genre of electonic music plays hommage to this place.
Thanks for your input so far, guys!

What's shakin, Bacon? Welcome to the boards.
I've been hemming & hawing on Ibiza for years now. I really wanna go and party, but I don't wanna spend that kind of money every night. So far, though, everything I've heard about the place is favorable. (Hell, look at beergal's glowing endorsement!)
Although I also hear there's more to the island than the party scene, and I'd like to check that out, I've found a very club-oriented way of getting there on the semi-cheap. Since San Francisco's a bit of a clubbing mecca of its own, a lot of the promoters here have the clout & bargaining power to get crazy group trips over to Ibiza. These trips include acommodations, airfare, and most importantly - admission into all the clubs You should check w/ the major club promoters in your area to see if they do this sort of thing... It could end up being an economical way to have an all-out good time there.

I saved mucho dinero by camping out in Ibiza. Problem is that most camp sites are about an hour bus ride from Ibiza city.
A good idea is to pre-drink at bars who advertise promotions for other clubs. Just ask bartenders at dinky bars if they know how you can get discounted entry to one of the major clubs... sometimes they have a coupon they'll give you if you spend a couple hours drinking at their bar.
Also, if I remember correctly, if you hang outside after a club closes a bus usually will come by and take people ready to continue the party to Space. Personally, I couldn't handle more than one morning of Space, but they don't usually advertise it when they have big time DJ's.
I recommend checking out Space at least once if you are willing to abuse your body.
Sound about right beergal?

I was in ibiza august of 2002, and that shit was off the hook!
I party really hard, when to space about 2am got out like at 9am, and then had something to eat, and already had my tickets for the next club at 3pm. Yes I took a little nap to get some more energy, but damn its amazing out there.
and the beaches are awesome too. I hanged out at some parties in the beach that were pretty cool.
I recommend ibiza alot. Yes its pretty expensive but oh well I had a damn great time.
I actually stayed at some guys house there in ibiza. I payed like 15euros a night. met this guy at a restaurant and he offered to rent a room to me, and thats how it happened. It was a great deal.
damn I really miss ibiza. beergal im coming with you!!!

Here it is...
Sorry guys, I'm not use to the boards...I thought this topic was deleted.
But it's here and I'm happy again.
Thanks for the welcome, Omisan. And Yeah, DEFINETELY Ibiza next year... and I'm glad I inspired you to go again Beergal...hahaha
If I see you guys there, I'll trip you guys out with crazy LIGHTSHOWS. (that is, if lightshows are "in" still. It's been a few years since my raving days)
Well it's good to hear everyone's experience. From the sounds of it, there is no one who wasn't satisifed with IBIZA. All about sun, sand and beats.
Just one thing: My trip I'm planning is 2 mths. How much time would you suggest I spend in IBIZA?

I got this tihng lined up for 2006, go to Germany and watch the world cup, travel italy with some of my italian buddies and then spend a week or 2 in Ibiza afterward partying my face off before the flight home. Im thinking if I can go with 4000 that should cover it as I can stay with relatives in Geramny and My firends relatives in Italy. all that money we save will go to the Ibiza trip
If Geramny wins the cup Im gonna be a human club wreakingball.

Ibiza and Mallorca are two islands just south of Spain in the Mediterranean. So, no, there aren't currently any trains servicing the area. You can take a ferry from Barcelona, Valencia or Alicante I believe; also there might be charter flights.
