Hi everyone!
I found tPunk on the good guidance of someone on another message board I frequent, and it looks like a cool place. Haven't poked around too much yet but it looks like there's an uber load of info and reading to do, so hopefully I don't get too distracted from schoolwork as I am prone to do... :P
Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself a little. I'm a Malaysian-Chinese girl, [almost] 20, studying in Maine for my undergrad (studio art major). Travel-wise I've only been to eleven countries on three continents and am always making plans to visit more.
This summer I'm hitting Sabah in Borneo for two weeks - technically part of home, but it will be my first solo backpacking adventure, and I'm really looking forward to it. If anyone is in the area and wants to meet up, let me know. If you ever want some company in KL, I'd love to show you my city, assuming I'm around.
I'll also be going to China from Sept - December, and am toying with visiting either Vietnam, Cambodia or both from Dec - Jan if I can find someone to go with me.
Well, say hello! I'm looking forward to meeting all you cool people.

Welcome to the boards! Sounds like you have some great plans! So, do you reside permanently in Malaysia? Again, glad to you!

Thanks for the welcomes, guys.
I think 11 countries is pretty good so far, and I'm happy that I've actually lived for a while in those places instead of just flitting through.
My family is Malaysian and I've spent most of my life in Malaysia - well, about 15 years out of my almost-20. Not sure where I'll end up permanently though. But if you'd like to know anything about Malaysia I'll try to be informative, although I've realized people often think there's nothing to do in the place they live in. :P

Welcome aboard!!
You must be finding Maine a bit different from Malaysia!! I am a bit of a next door neighbor to you in NH and I can barely stand the winters, so I don't know how you have managed so far!

Aha, I recognize the state motto.
I was actually in NH for a few days over Easter weekend last week!
So Malaysia is just about 80 degrees warmer than a Maine winter eh. :P I understand we had a mild winter though...it was raining in January! Discovering snowboarding has made me appreciate snow a lot more, although I've only been twice, I'm going to be a slope maniac next season.
I'll definitely post updates on my Borneo gallivanting when the summer actually gets here...still two and a half months to go, sigh.

Thank you so much! :D I just did a total extreme makeover on Sunday, so I'm glad you like it. No upgrades to Premium for me, it's just regular xanga and really not very hard to do at all.

Aww. I'm sure you can figure it out. What kind of stuff do you want to do with your page?

Great to have you freespiritz! I found Malaysian people very friendly and accomodating when I was there, I don't know much about Borneo but loved my time on the Penninsula

From: Lewiston, ME but from PJ, Malaysia
Lewiston?
I was there. In November. Twice! Well, Auburn actually.
WOW, it IS a small world. I suppose the only thing that would have made it smaller would have been meeting you while backpacking.
Anyways, welcome to T-Punk Hwei Ling! Sounds like you are going to have an awesome trip! I've never been to Asia...one of these days! Borneo sounds fantastic. Well, have a safe trip. If I visit my friend in Auburn this summer, I'll let you know. Hopefully if I do, it won't be when you're traveling so we can hang out at the Wal-Mart and do all the fun things you Lewiston kids do.

hey @ urOZm8! I'm so slow right now, it took me a while to figure out your username. :P I'm actually toying with ideas of going to Australia from mid-April-August next year. Good to know that you enjoyed Malaysia! :D
and omg Xanthous you were in Auburn? That's so funny. Small world. :D Maybe we walked past each other in the famous Auburn Wal-Mart and didn't know it. I'd love to meet yah if you drop by this summer. You know you totally want to come back to the happening L/A region, haha. I'm flying home from New York on the 9th of July so come before then! Or even come around then and travel to NYC w/ me. :P
And please don't call me a Lewiston kid, hahaa. :P
