My friend had a little jewellry store here in the Sosua, DR. She was planning to leave at the end of the month with her and her two kids. Was hoping to have made enough money by then to pay for the three flights home, but didn't quite have enough.
She was trying to sell off her entire inventory but was not having any luck because the tourist season is pretty slow right now. The jewellry she sells is all hand made and very nice, stuff that I would buy and wear all the time. I wouldnt have necessarily taken $700 and bought it ALL though....but that is just what I did. That was exactly enough money for her and her kids to book flights home.
Now of course is the task of trying to sell most of it to at least make my money back...
Am I crazy or just a nice girl? or
Oh....and does anyone wanna buy some jewellry off me...you gotta come to the DR to do it though!!

Well....you now have birthday/christmas presents for a very long time I'm sure.
Sounds like you need an expert in sales to get rid of that stuff

So, your plan for Dominican dominance is coming alive then, first you buy out all the condos, now you're paying the jewelry store owners to leave town - sell up or face the wrath of Brooke!!!
....hehe kidding, you did a good thing Brooke

I'm on the side of good karma. If the stuff is even remotely pretty you should be able to either sell it piecemeal or make jewelry yourself!

Yeah it has actually inspired me to maybe get into jewellry making...I used to do it as a kid.
I will be toting around my little bag of jewellry now like a vendor on the beach!!

What she said. Brookie, you're so nice... the Dominicans aren't gonna know what hit them when you build your giant "laser" in the mountains... :D
As for good deeds, I didn't kill anyone today. Thought I was gonna come close when I picked the truck up... saw the bill... May I please have a gold star?

Good on you Benna! What you did was really decent! Don't worry, I'm sure karma will help out a little...although even if it doesnt, you'll be the most stylish sperson in the dominican!!

Is there a central area in your condo complex where all the guests have to come in? Maybe you could set up a little display case and people can just buy it there?
You definitely go down in the Good Samaritan book , but that comes as no surprise.

Such a great thing to do! You're definitely putting out some good Karma.....
You may not make your money back immediately, but...if you hold on to it, wear some of the jewelry around....those who like it will often ask where you got it.....Perfect time to make a sales pitch.
AND....you may be able to barter with friends. "I'll give you one super nifty necklace, for one full body massage".

That's definitely a Good Deed!!
That was a WONDERFUL thing you did.
Also, as others have said, you can probably get your money back - eventually.

Thanks for your thoughts guys! I wasn't regretting my decision, even after I put some thought into it and realized that I paid too much!! But like I said, sometimes in a situation like that, money isn't the main thing.
Here are some pictures in case any of you are curious on what I bought....I actually really like it for the most part and will probably end up keeping whatever I don't sell (after I make the initial $700 back!!)
The necklaces
Wooden Bead and Gemstone
Fimo Bead
Rope Chokers
The bracelets
Wooden Bead and Gemstone
Mayan Bracelets
Wish Bracelets
More to come.

Rings
Sterling Silver
Spiders!! (so cute!)
Foot lace-ups (you hook the top around your second toe and then lace it around your foot like a thong sandle, they look really cool)
This is just a small sampling of the stuff I bought...enjoy the pics! (As much as I am going to enjoy getting rid of it!!)

Hey, if it's not too inconvenient (for you!) and the godfather doesn't mind, I think I might help ya with a sale! Maybe you should list prices.
