i'm going all alone to australia and i'll be 19 for it. Are most people young between say 18-22? or are there alot of much older people travelling as well>? i hope since i'm still pretty young it will b easy to make lotsa new friends and drinking buddies cuz it'll be hard the first little while not knowing a single person!!

You should be just fine. Aussies are generally quite friendly and I made lots of Aussie friends traveling Europe and South America. Being alone forces you to meet new people and be more outgoing. I met quite a few travellers that were between 18 and 25.

i travelled by myself round eastern europe when i was 19. By far the best thing ive ever done, met so many awesome people with so much in common. I was away for nearly a month and there was only 2nights where I wasnt hanging out with people. It might be nerve racking at first but you soon realise if you dont make the effort to meet people you wont be having much fun... and after a few beers it becomes easier.

You will have a great time! We Aussies are known for our hospi, hsop, hspi... oh damn we are good at drinking!

All jokes aside living almost all of my life in Aus there are a massive variety of ages when it comes to travel so you should have no problems meeting new friends. Say HI to the sun for me!

Just a heads up - if you are religious or want to experience Easter in Greece, Greece follows a different calendar and the dates of Christmas, Easter and so forth are different from the western church, so it'll probably still be somewhere in the middle of Lent while you're there.

Don't worry about it. The majority of people you meet probably will be within the 18-22 range you're looking for, but there will also be tons of cool older people that you'll want to hang w/ as well, so don't segregate yourself too much! I went to Europe at 17 (well, going on 18) last summer for my highschool grad solo and had an awesome time. You'll have absolutely no problem meeting people...

I was 19 the first time I went overseas. I had to navigate O'Hare, and then I had to go from Gatwick to Heathrow. Then I landed in Casablanca and had to take a cab and find my group at the hotel. and it was fine. Seriously, aussies are some of the friendliest people Ive ever met in my life, dont even worry. Where you going?

Well I have met many Aussies while travelling around and they are helpful people. They might even ask you to go out for a drink Just be wise as a traveller, pretty standard. You will also probably meet other travellers in hostels/ touristy spots.

But really, no worries Mate!

I think you should go alone and doing it when you are young is a good idea. I have been on semi-alone trips and I loved it. You will meet lots of friendly people and grow in self-confidence. I am taking a two week trip next summer to Scandinavia and I am doing the whole trip alone. I can't wait.

Go for it!

I went at 17 and it was amazing. I didn't meet too many 17 or 18 year olds. Mostly 19-mid twenties. Go for it. It will be the best experience of your life.
