Alrighty folks, I've been wanting to actually write one of these puppies out for awhile. A customer at my bar tonight is a week away from a 19 day trip to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro(sp?) and go on safari. This guy was in his upper 60's and he got me thinking. So I talked to some more of my customers and came up with some ideas for a Life's List of Things to do Before You Die.

This is not a comprehensive list by any means but just some of the highlights of the list I wrote. So here goes...

-Run with the bulls(did that)
-Climb Kilimanjaro
-See the Pyramids
-See the Mona Lisa
-Ride in a subway in NYC
-See a baseball game in Fenway Park and Wrigley Field
-Get married
-Have kids
-Drive a Ferrari
-Cage dive with Great White sharks
-Appear on TV
-Kill and eat an animal
-Join the mile high club
-Learn another language
-Shake hands with the President of the United States(not this one in particular)
-Skydiving
-Be wrongly accused of a felony
-Quit a job and cuss out your boss
-Roll around in a bed with a pile of money
-Rebuild something(it has to work before and after)
-Be better than anyone else you know at something
-Safari
-Face your biggest fear
-Say "YEE HAAAWWW!!!" and mean it
-Go skinny dipping
-Get in a barfight
-Meet your idol

Alright, that's a couple of mine so gimme some more ideas.

Ok, I'll copy your list and modify accordingly...

-See all of the countries I want to see. Too many to list.
-Complete at least one feature film in my lifetime and have my name entered into a film encyclopedia
-Run with the bulls-Really want to do this
-Climb Kilimanjaro- maybe Everst someday.
-See the Pyramids- Definitely
-See the Dali museum in Spain( I've been to the one in St. Pete Fla. It rules.) and more art in other countries in Eu
-Ride in a subway in NYC-done it. Love NYC
-See a basketball game
-Get married- maybe
-Have kids-oooh I dunno
-Get a pilots license. Maybe Helicopter.
-Cage dive with Great White sharks- Hell yeah! I've been wanting to do this for years.
-Learn another language- I know a little from all different languages but it would be great to master one.
-Skydiving-Done it, like no other feeling in the world.
-Wear a suit of bees.- I'm not kidding.
-Go on at least one tour with my band.
-Go snowboarding-there's no where to go in Ga.
-Get scuba certified.
-Live in Eu for a little while.
-Live in Tokyo, Japan.

Wow. This really makes you think. I'm going to print this out and hang it on my wall as a reminder to Get busy livin' or get busy dyin' Cool post, man.

-Learn to rock climb

Let me just dig my list out of my backpack... I wrote one the other day when I was glazing over in lecture.

Live on a Kibbutz in Israel
Trek through the Sahara (was oh so very close once)
Trans-Siberian Railway, baby!
Trans-Africa train trip (I really love trains, and if you do it right you can go from Cape Town to Tangiers...)
Bum around India for six months or so
Dhow boating in Zanzibar (Would like to go there on honeymoon I think)
Wadi-Rum and Petra (Might get to do this one this summer!!!)
Spend a few weeks on Little Corn Island
Camp out in the Amazon
Maccu Piccu
Trans-Australia rail trip (see, I really really love trains)
Eastern Europe, esp the sea's birthday in Lithuania
Pray at the Wailing Wall (another one I might do this summer)
Fake my own death
Get into a minor rail or plane crash. Just a minor one.
Watch the sun rise from Mt. Sinai
Live in Palestine for a year
Teach in another country. Not the States.
Have many rowdy, happy, clever, loud kids (preferably boys) with a lovely husband and keep on adventuring. None of this "settling down" bullshit.
Die before Im 65 or so.
Witness stigmata
Get my Christmas presents from Tomte in Sweden
Acquire another passport
Run a bar on my own. Preferably somewhere really rough.

So that's most of them. Mile High club is over rated, Jason. I'd like to do it in a church in Rome. That would be cool. Or a museum. British Museum. Tho its kind of cold in there.

<---- that smiley is awesome

Oh and I've kind of been kicking around this idea for a while... I'd like to commit a something so outrageous that it should be a crime, but they cant technically nail me and so they make a law. Sort of. That make sense?

Fun fun!

Visit every continent except Antarctica
Safari
See Mt. Kilamanjaro (have no desire to climb it)
Swamp tour in New Orleans
Boat ride down the Amazon
See an anaconda in person, not in a zoo/aquarium
Egypt but of course!
Spend a weekend at Niagara Falls
Get a photo published (not myself) on the cover of a fashion magazine
Have my husband get his book published (does that really count? )
Have kids
Adopt at least one kid
Scuba dive somewhere tropical and actually put my cert. to use!
Go to New York
Own a house with a hottub
Get an underage drinking ticket (that can no longer be a goal, but it was up until my 21st b-day!)
Go celeb stalking in LA
Galapagos Islands
Visit Cumberland Island
See the Packers play
Spend $500 on something superficial like a shirt or purse

Wierd beard-- Just so you know the Dali Museum in Spain is almost entirely his earlier(not too surreal) work and sketches. It's also in a nothing town, that I only stumbled upon because the train tracks were being repaired. If you're a huge fan of his early stuff its worth it but if you like the vibrant colors(most old stuff there is black and white) and the truly twisted mind that he had later in life, its just okay.

Mmm.. this inspired me... lets see:

Already done :
* The pyramids and Cairo
* Do a year of high school in the USA (It sounds dumb... but movies show it so cool I always wanted to have a locker...)--> not so cool but I had a fantastic year!!
* Meet someone in the subway (I actually had recuring dreams of this until it happened)
* Go camping in Patagonia
* Live in a foreing country
* Go to University (and finish it next year)
* See Paris, and London, and Venice and Firenze and Rome
* Learn Italian
* Drive an M113 (it was so cool!! I always thought it was kindda dangerous... but it was so much fun!! perhaps cause I'd never actually use it for anything but the thrill of going up and down a hill)
* Throw coins in Fontana di Trevi (which of course means now I have to go back!!)

Can't go yet since I still have to do these: :
+ Backpack thru Europe on my own (possibly May 2007)
+ Learn French
+ Go to Ireland (and ride in a bicycle)
+ Go out to pubs in London
+ Learn to drive a car (seriously... I'm 21 and don't have my licence yet)
+ Hava a caffe in a little Paroisian caffe
+ Graduate December 2006
+ Talk in Italian to an actual Italian in Italy (duh!)
+ Get married
+ Have kids
+ Vacation or honeymoon at an exotic deserted beach
+ See the greek Isalands (or at least a few)
+ Go to Scandinavia
+ And for total superficial: get a real Louis Vuitton purse (but a small one... nothing too flashy)
+ Work at a five star hotel (and get vacation privileges in their chain)

Hehe, i know it sounds totally silly... but well... I went to an all girls catholic high school here in Buenos Aires. so a public school in the US felt really libereating in someways...

Though I loved to return to my school for my last years of school.

I actually just got a book a few months ago called "2do before I die" it helps you to develope your own list. with tons of examples and ideas, along with stories from other people. some of the ideas are really cool. I got the book at a UofT book store downtown to you TO punks. I've only really semi read it so far.

but heres some of my list after reading all of yours (awesome lists by the way guys).

Scuba certified
white water raft all the top places in the world
stand as close as possible to an active volcano (without getting hurt)
Married-definatley
kids- I say no
rock climbing would be awesome
learn two more languages
live on a desserted island with maybe 1 or 2 people for a bit
BE ON SURVIVOR DAMN IT!!!!!!!
meet Angelina Jolie
swim with great whites- I thought i was the only one who would love to do that.
See a Steeler home game live.
Travel the entire world, covering anything my imagine can come up with. From all of Egypt, to the waters and beaches of Australia. the beautiful views from the greek islands, to the bulls in spain, and the space cakes in Amsterdam, and the anceint history and castles of England, Ireland, and Scotland.
Oh you cant forget having a whirl wind romance while backpacking.-I cant wait.
piolit's lisence
take a winibago road trip accross Canada and the states with some friends- rent the movie going the distance. its hillarious. all about canucks doing the same thing (kind of)

wow so much for calling this a short list.

things i've done:
Skydiving- the best feeling in the world. they call it an "air-gasim"
Niagra Falls- i used to hang out there every weekend.

i really need to do more things.

Running with the bulls was one that I conciously thought about, and then did (almost didnt happen when they kicked us out Jason, luckily you got back in too)

Travelled to Europe on an extended trip - another one I told myself I would do

Then there graduating from school and things like that, but most other stuff Ive done havent been things that have been big goals.

However, Im sure there are things I would like to do before I die. Ill come up with a list at some point

Thanks man! I'll still go because he's buried there with his wife Gala I believe. If you're a fan of his later stuff go see the museum in St. Pete, Fla. absolutely amazing. a few paintings at least one story high, others could fit in your hand and all with incredible detail. It's worth the trip just to see it.

You know i did write aa list of 20 things to do before i die bout 4 years ago, but i have scince lost it and have noticed that a few of the things had there i don't really care about so here is my new list

- complete my PhD (still working on it but much much closer this time)
- learn new language enough to be fluent (I can survive in 4 languages now but i really want to do more german and learn an asian language properly)
- visit france (it was on our list but we got bored of holidaying to early)
-see the louvre
- get job (a decent one, I'm working on it but it's slow)
- go for a hot air balloon ride
-jump out of a plane (I'm sorta scared of heights)
- lead a 5+ outdoors (i can top a 5+ so i just gotta work on the leading part ) (climbing jargon)
- go white water rafting
- see the pyramids (of course)
- go on an archaeology dig
-see las vegas

pretty boring and predictable

It's sad, but I can't even list my 'things to do before I die' list... It's too damned long.. and it keeps growing by the day (at the rate I'm going, I'm not allowed to die, ever)

everytime i keep checking off an item on my list, 2 or three others appear (and an even dozen thanks to you guys)

For the Antarctica folks, lemme recommend this link
Raytheon Polar Services - work in Antarctica

yeah, it's on my list as well, and I've done some research on it, even...
