Whistler is probably the North American Snow Sports Mecca.
There's lots of good places in the Cascades, and this year we have great snow. And every place is open already. Shit, 3 of them are within an hour of my house.

Whistler is also a pretty decent summer Mountain Bike mecca, as well... win-win all around.

I always love a good mountain bike hill. Never been too far from home for it though. Whistler sounds like a good time.

Not only is it a good time, but, get this - they consider the summer "off-season" so the rates are cheaper and it's not badly crowded!
Silly people!

Good thing more people aren't into mountain biking then, eh? I'll have to get there someday.

It goes like this west coast snow, east coast ice. Its gonna be better snow in the Rockies, and yes whistler is the shit, but I would also suggest park city Utah. Its very convenient (25 min out side salt lake) and it has some of the best powder in the world, pulse it has several different mountains and resorts in the area to chose from. Not to mention they just dumped a bunch of money in to the area not to long ago due to the Olympics.
P.S.
Not bashing the east coast, because they ones who do ski on ice can ski any where in the world.

I'm from Vancouver...
Whistler is awesome...but we also have our "local mountains" which run you about half the cost of a Whistler lift ticket.

Never been to Whistler, but my favorite slopes are in Lake Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain where fresh powder is never hard to find!

Whistler-Blackcomb gets my vote. People often forget that there are infact 2 mountians at the same location. Plus, Whistler has some of the best nightlife I have seen, ski resort or not.

West coast, hands down. Lake Tahoe
Okay, honestly I've never been snowboarding on the east coast but from everyone I've talked to the mountains out west are far superior than the small mountains of the east coast. Lake Tahoe could keep you snowboarding for weeks without ever hitting the same slope, there's so many resorts there you'll shit yourself. And Tahoe's a cool atmosphere. But other than Tahoe itself, its a ways to any big cities near it, Reno sucks and Sacramento's a few hours south.
