Question

Quote:
Dear Stephanie,

Thank you for applying to the Mediterranean Crossroads program for Summer 2006. I am happy to inform you that you have been selected to participate in the program.

I wanted to inform as soon as possible so that you can pre-register for your spring classes, which must include MES 351 Mediterranean Crossroads Seminar, and two other approved courses in MES (a list is provided below) If you are interested in other MES courses that are not listed at the end of this email please feel free to contact me to find out if they count. In general most courses on Egypt, Israel, or Palestine will count, and some other broader courses on the Middle East may also count, as long as they are approved in advance.

We will be contacting you shortly with more information on the details of the program, among them the specific payment schedules and fees, the exact departure and return dates (approximately early June through early July, 2006).

In the meantime, please make sure to pre-register for MES 351 and two other appropriate courses for Spring 2006.

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,
Kamran Aghaie
Guys I got this late last night when I was drunk into oblivion, had randomly hijacked someones computer at a party and then sat there screaming for a few minutes. Wandered around telling complete strangers about it. wow its the best birthday present ever!!!! Mid East Studies Department pays for me to go, but really its amazing because of the research aspect... All spring we take a course in developing our thesis and conducting field work, then go, and then come back and have a conference course and write a scholarly paper to be published in a journal. I've been tied into knots over this for weeks and weeks and weeks and I am out of my head euphoric right now. Thanks so much TPunk for helping me feel better this past week, oh god this is so amazing! I cant believe it! This opens up so many doors!

So is this like that program the girl from eurotrip was going on? where you sail around and have sex on yachts in the med?

Or is this a super sophisticated smart people thing?

In either case I knew you'd come out on top steph. Well done.

Congratulations!

If it is anything like Eurotrip, please skip the part where you drink Absinthe and make out with your brother... Otherwise, go nuts, soak up the culture, and rock the Med. Maybe learn sumfin, too, if you find the time.

Wow, Steph, that's amazing. I think there are certain what I call "World Cities" that all travelers must see. Jerusalem is definitely one of those. I can close my eyes right now, and picture the Old Market...the ceiling of my hostel as Arab music blared and I was too jazzed up to sleep...the smells of the spice market...and that was 24 years ago!

Yep, you're in for some rich experiences...!
