Welcome aboard!

There've been a number of recent threads about visiting/working in Australia, so do a search and you'll see what's up

I'll be in Australia for most of November, so if you're anywhere on the east coast, I'm smelling a TPunk meetup.

hey linzee

yeah as above, check the threads in the "where you going" section, i put up a few posts up there on where to go as did a few other natives of Oz

as for working behind a bar, the rules and regulations are different for each state. in my home state of New South Wales, you need an RSA (responsible service of alcohol) certificate to work behind a bar. it will set you back a day and about AUD$100, could be less just depends on who does the course. as for the other states i really couldnt help ya, but just ask the bartender and they'll let you know!

furthermore if you have experience you should have NO problems finding work in that area.......we drink alot down here so pubs BOOM....so yeah come down and have some fun with us!

have a good time in Australia!!! and dont stress!

One thing I dont understand: why do people rave on about Surfers Paradise, QLD. I try to avoid that damn place!

Mid QLD-
Agnes Waters and 1770 are very nice IMO... I actually had a surfing lesson with german backpackers there too.

QLD- Noosa.. I like it.. but only LIKE

but I am biasd because I live here.. I would also suggest North Stradbroke Island BUT DO NOT SWIM AT AMITY POINT (shark attack recently haha). In winter (with not many tourists at that time) you can see lots of dolphins everyday and in season there are whales.. There is camping there too. It's not a typical touristy place.

I also really like Melbournes coastline because it wasn't so developed (but I dunno anymore coz I moved from there 6years ago).. and it's rugged beauty.. but COLD

Merimbula in Southern NSW was always my favourite holiday spot when I was young too.

dammit, Tegan, I wish I'd known - I was in Noosa for 5 days in mid-November for my friends wedding, with plenty more time spent around the Brisbane area... Noosa was a bit ritzy for me (too reminiscent of Carmel or LaJolla here in California) but it was beeeeeautiful, and the YHA hostel there kicked ass.
