Question

Yesterday Beth and I left to go camping/hiking in the North Cascade Mountains. We hiked out in the afternoon around a alpine mountain covered with fog - it was really beautiful. Once we settled into camp it started raining, but we were snug inside our tent. Today we hiked out in near freezing rain and were quite drenched after our 5 mile hike back out to the car. Though not all together pleasant, we still had fun and enjoyed our time together and some amazing views.

Then we got home to find out entire bedrooom, bathroom and hallway carpets soaked in about an inch of water Apparently our water heater spung a leak. It feels like it has been raining on us every where we go today! So now we are waiting for maintanence to arrive.

i bet you thought you had it made when it rained and you were in your tent. they dont call it the pacific northwest the rainy area for nothing. im sure nothing could dampen your spirits during that hike. keep traveling and bagging peaks like i know you love to do.

Oh snap!! Sorry to hear that dude!

How bad is the damage? Are you going to have to drop any money to cover it?

Nah - its all on the property owner. They are here now changing the water heater with a new one. They are also pulling up carpet because the matting underneath is soaked...it'll be a couple of days before they get it all done.

damp for sure - in fact when we first moved in there was a slight musty smell, and they came and treated the carpets and it went away....but I think the leak was starting and just happended to get worse while we were away. They are back today and are going to try and dry everything out.

No damage to our stuff - luckily we have very little furniture. Some clothing got wet and a couple of blankets, but that is it. TZhe sucky thing is that we've had to move everything out of the bedroom into the living room

Hope everything works out...that's the good thing about not being a homeowner...all the repairs are on someone else!!

Don't get cold underneath any wet blankets!!

hey!!

yeah, what's even worse is that we sleep on the floor. when anthon said we have hardly any furniture...he ment none. we don't want to buy any so that we can move around easier...now that is a traveler's mentality! the only dry bit on carpet is one part on the living room where we both barely wedge in. ahhhhh, we love an adventure....whatever it may be.

Ahhh monty python...

Dude, sucks... That happened to my bedroom when we moved in. It was already a problem before, but the agent failed to mention about it, so the real estate place thing had to pay for it... But I did have to take everything out... which is a lot...

At least nothing got damaged!

Thumbs down

Unless it's hot and dry outside (and you can open windows and blow fans out), turn your AC down cold and keep ceiling fans running to dehumidify the moisture. This is important at first to prevent mold formation.
