So I am going to have to cancel my trip to europe.
My car died and I have to get a new one. I have needed a new one for awhile but I kept holding out for a new one until after I got back. I have been driving an old VW Rabbit which is older than I am for 3 years. It finally bit the bullett and is in rust bucket heaven. I could fix it but I am looking at $1200. So either way i have to cancel the trip. I am very very sad right now.

Sorry to hear your trip got screwed up
Is there any way you can live without a car for a bit?

When were you planning on taking your trip? If it was soon then couldn't you still go and then buy a car when you get back?
That does suck though, sorry dude.

Sorry about your trip. I know how you feel. my trip was cancelled too. But just think, now you can plan an even bigger and better trip for next time.

I know there's a whole image thing, but can you get a moped or scooter to get to/from wherever you need to go instead?

what about public transport? or do u live in a very rural area?
a car is a very, very expensive convenience.....but also very necessary in much of the US.

Awww, that totally sucks to hear! I can't afford a car, and I really have nothing that'll break... I've blown all my money on stuff that ya can't keep. Well I have to agree that it'll give you time to plan a bigger and better trip and you'll know exactly what's involved!!

You could play with the second hand car market. Buy a car in fairly good nick, clean it up a bit while your using it then sell it again when your leaving. It is possible to make an extra bit of cash doing that you just have to make sure it's a car with a good rep that won't de-value.

I nearly had to cancel my trip cause my travel buddy got himself a woman. I was gonna put it off then I'm like F*#k that, i'll go by myself!! I'm a bit nervous and but screw it!! Otherwise I'll never go.....
Don't let anything get in the way of you travelling cause it will only lead to regret.

I had a friend who was supposed to go to Australia for a year he had he's bags packed ready to leave for the flight and he decided not to go because he had just got a gfriend. They broke up two months ago, and I laughed and called him a mong.

I hate hearing about this kind of shit. If the new significant other is such a great person, they'll happily send you on your way when you have a trip planned! Or if you can't live without them and the wild monkey sex that usually accompanies a new relationship, they'll go with if you invite them along. Maybe that's just me and my love of freedom (and wild monkey sex) talking though.
If the new person gets weird about you leaving, well, probably it's not going to last anyway. Just my .02.

why can't friendships and relationships just get along? i hate this topic. i think relationships should be eliminated....lets just have friendships and wid monkey sex.
those two things always put a grin on my face.
