Looks like gay marriage could be passed in Canada as early as next week.
A step in the right direction I'd say
This will bring in some sweet moula to the Canadian economy.
Legalizing gay marriage is the latest way to show people that society can be changed. Twenty-five years ago, the thought of gay marriage would have never been contemplated, and now it will be legally recognized.
Whether yur fur it or agin it, you gotta give cutos for a job well done.

Yeah I'm so hoping this go through! I love the conservatives calling Paul Martin a devil. This is why politics can get very very interesting. Has anyone watched my Big Fat Gay Wedding? I saw an ep an loved it, can't beat the guys from kids in the hall.

The bill will likely be passed today or tomorrow
NPD, Libs and the Bloc all want it so theres pretty much no way it will get shot down.
And yeah, I saw My Fabulous Gay Wedding. Scott Thompson is hilarious.

That is very cool! I heard the Conservative said the Bloc votes weren't even real. LOL! That'll help improve relations between the two. All this friction is givin' us exactly what we need right now. I hope anyways. :D

I support gay rights and all, but my question is: why on earth do they want that same opportunity for lifelong misery??

There have been ceremonies all over Canada, but now they have to get the bill passed to ensure their rights. If it doesnt pass, all of those ceremonies will not be acknowledged

This is the best law the Liberals has passed since they have been in office...well maybe not the best, but right up there...Its a serious issue that had the whole county commenting on it. Its dragged on for years and finally its been done. And for all the media hype that led up to it, it has not been in the news from 2 days after the law was passed...hmm how soon we forget what we are mad about...lol...If its not in the news, people tend to gripe less.
I was very proud to be Canadian that day. Rights for all, not just those we deem acceptable.
I think Spain's law passed a couple days later.

Spain passed there's on thursdays, the day after Canada did I believe. Although I think both countries used "Third Country in the World" after it was passed. I definitely think this is a step in the right direction I hope Canada really sticks with a more liberal view of the world.

Spain actually was the third country to put it into law. Canada's law still has to go through the Senate and receive Royal Ascension.
Either way, it's great all around for these laws to be passed.

Belgium & The Netherlands, actually.
Switzerland does not have gay "marriage" - what they have is more civil unions.
The difference just has to do with whether the groups are separated in law. Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and soon Canada all have their laws changed to remove any reference between gay & straight when it comes to marriage. Marriage is between two "persons" in those countries. Many countries in Europe have equal standing for marriages and civil unions, but still maintain the two different institutions.
