Hey, I stayed with friends one night and slept in the airport the next... it's actually quite nice to sleep in if you go upstairs to where the shops are and get a good bunch of seats... lots of people do it

Yeah, this is my plan too. I heard good things and it'll just be for 1 night, I figure it'll save me some of the cash London is notorious for eating.

camping out there isn't that bad at all. i took the express and arrived around 2 then slept and met some people, ate breakfast with them then checked in around 630 for my 9 flight. it's totally safe, free, and there are loads of people that are doing the same thing.

Oh yeah.. the people who sleep there are awesome.. generally everyone watches out for everyone elses stuff and is super nice.... just remember the chairs and areas best for sleeping are upstairs by the shops... and there's a McDonalds there too if you need a cheap and quick breakfast!
