I leave on Wensday and had a couple of qeustions about hostel life fore last minute packing.
First Second, how does laundry get done? Do hostels usually have laundry machines or do you have to go to a landrymat or something?
Second, If im planning on going to the beach, should I pack a towel?
Thanks

They might have on-site laundry facilities, or if not reception should be able to direct you to a place. European dryers are notoriously retarded, so hang dry if possible. You can always wash a shirt in the sink. Bring a towel with you, regardless. Most hostels either rent them (ewww....) or dont have them to begin with. Good luck, mate!

Laundry can be taken care of in a few ways:
- hand washing in the sink, so bring a rubber stopper for the sink and some laundry detergent with you (remember to rinse things well)
- some hostels will have a washing machine, but be prepared to pay a fee for the usage
- in bigger tourist cities there may be laundromats (also for a fee), so ask around
I would only use laundromats for big/bulky things like your jeans or a heavy sweater. Things like socks, undies and even t-shirts can be easily enough done in the sink.
A towel at the beach is always useful. If you really don't want to haul it around everywhere with you, then just buy one there - it will make a nice souvenir too!
