Me and my mate have just booked our trip to europe for august. We've both bought a 16 day inter rail ticket for zone E (France, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg) but will probably be stayin' for about 24 days.
We plan on starting in Belgium, based solely on the fact that the flight prices are cheap as shit!! The plan is to start there, work our way south, along the south coast of france up the west coast, through France and finish in amsterdam. Basically like a big loop.
Just wondering if this is a bad idea??Would it be better starting south west of france and end in amsterdam or is the loop do-able in the 24 days???
Any comments appreciated

It's very doable. That's seems like a logical travel plan to me. Loops usually work pretty well, especially if your flight out is from Belgium too. Otherwise a horseshoe works well. You do plan on making stops on your trip South, right? You might even sneak in some NW Italian Riviera or some W Germany. Just a thought.

Yeh having a horseshoe, zig zag or circle patterns usually works well. I woulnd't stay in the big cities any shorter than 3 nights. First night you are settling in, Second ngiht nght you are figuring it out, then the third night you know what is going on.
Small no name towns, just 1 or 2 nights.
Remember a train ride during the day usually takes up the day. Take a night train if available.
