Ok so i found out my paper work from the minisrty of education in Japan should be here in a few days, now I need to figure out if mailing off for my visa is the best way or driving to pick it up in person? If i mail it ill definetly do it express both ways and I would think I should get it back quickly, but driving there gives me some level of comfort just handleing it in person but it is also a trip to Miami which is about 4 hours away and between work and school itd be a bitch to work out, anyone done it by mail and have an estimate on turnaround time?? any help would be great......

I've mailed off my passport for visa many times and never had a problem. That said, for my upcoming trip I think I'll get it in person at the embassy in DC...but then again, I can fly there for free, so it's a bit different.

If you do apply in person, make sure you've contacted the embassy to see if you can get it all done in one day, and if you have to be there by a certain time or need an appointment.

Good luck!
