Uhh.. there's a very handy search right here on the homepage at TravelPUNK.com
In terms of recommendations (regardless of price) check out the Europe forums. In Paris, there have been a lot of negative votes on 3 Ducks, lots of positive for Peace & Love Hostel. In Amsterdam, the Flying Pig Downtown is the most popular of them all, whereas the Flying Pig by the park is supposed to be the nicest.. have a look around!

the Pig is a cool place to stay, at this time of year i'd probably choose the Palace cause of the location. but i also stayed at this hostel, which was cheaper then the pig, a bit dodgy, but not too bad, The MeetingPoint, the owners and workers were well really out of it most of the time, but friendly, not as comfortable as the pig, but it is also a short walk from Centraal Station and close to main public transportation, also the flying pig downtown, and just borders the red light district. The bar was always open and there was no curfew, and a large mix of foriegners. I also was told by a flying pig worker that Bobs Youth Hostel wasn't too bad, i think its somewhere in the area of the pig downtown and the meetingpoint.
ciao, S.

I settled on the love 'n peace too in the end. Mediocre seems so much better than horrible sometimes. Ha ha! I won't be in Paris until the beginnin' of August though.

Flying Pig Downtown all the way. Its close to Centraal station and that is where all the trams begin and end. Bob's is on Damrak and I heard it was ok. The pig is a great party hostel with tons of people ready to head out on the town at a drop of a hat. There is also plenty of wacky tabacky in that hostel so you won't have to buy any if thats your thing. Plenty of other people just light up and pass on.
Definately check out:
Van Gogh museum. Simply Amazing.
Anne Frank Haus - Line was too long but looked neat from the outside
Dam Square - close to the pig and nice architecture
Red Light - obvious. Its more than just hookers. Lots of neat bars, live sex shows, interesting people (NO CAMERAS!)
Heineken Experience - It was worth 10 euro to me because I love Heineken. You get three 25cl beers and a free glass at the end. It takes about an hour. Good way to start of a long night (or morning!).
Most of the ATM's that I found were on Damrak. It is one street over from the street that the Pig is on. I will not attempt to mutilate the spelling of that weird word. It starts with an N.
Good luck!
